I bought a pekingese puppy 2 months ago

According to vet, the puppy has infected with demodectic mange. It is
an inherited disease from parents to puppy and hard to be treated.She
denied the problem and refused to refund. She chased me out.
She said it happened because I dunno how to take care of the dog.
She didnt even offer for help. I was so mad as was told by vet that it is an inherited problem.
I have spent few hundreds to treat the poor puppy.

I just wana share my bad experience. She is too irresponsible.

I know some people who give pure breeds to friend and animal lovers. You would though how kind of them? Well, think again. Once a while the person who gave the dog (we call him AAA) will come over to ask to take the dog out for a day. By the end of the day, the dog come back damn tired.

What do you think happened?

AAA took the dog for breeding. Then sell the puppies. Pure breeds are very expensive. You continue to feed the dog and care for the dog for him. He don't need to pay a cent for the dog's living expenses. Maybe he take care of the female but pity the female do...used as breeding machine.

And you think these people are so kind?

What is the pup condition when u 1st bring her home??

one time i bought a pup from the kennel, and he got sick after 2 days at my house, and died after 3 weeks treatment from the vet.
actually he already got sick from the kennel, but i didnt know, bcs he looked ok when we got him. i called the kennel and explained. and she asked me to get the new pup from her to replace, and now the new one is living healthy and happily with me.
kennel should have responsibility.. usually they give us some kind of warranty for 1 month (not incl if we change our mind of course, but in case if the pup is sick from the breeder)

i jz feel sorry for the pup.. please give him good treatment until he recovers. and shame on the seller!! really irresponsible!

this looks exactly like my shih tzu...
but my shih tzu has been 12years old.
to keep it alive, i need to spend Rm25 for injection
everyweek. so decided to ask the vet to finish it up.

the vet said this is because the dog immune system
getting weaker. so this virus/bacteria will grow very

OMG. The person that sold you this pup is heartless !! The least she can do is apologise .

I think the seller have attitude problem.Maybe perhaps may nego with the seller in humble way.However next time b4 you purchase any puppy,better to discuss further details with seller.

Poor thing, the puppy really looked very sick from the photo. I understand how you feel TS, if I were to pay this much, I'll expect the puppy to be a healthy one.

as what i know every dog has the demodex ( to be clear it is like having a flea under the skin)
it will only attack the dog when the immune system is low..or under stress..
i have my daschund had that..she is 9 years old when she had it..
according to what my experience is..
it has to be treated from outside and inside.. plus atibiotics.. and nutritious diet too..
very hard to cure this as the disease will come out again sometimes..
the dog has to be bathed with amitras solution (somekind of active acid)
brush lightly to the dog's infected area..this will help to absorb the medicine..

2. Kasus demodek general :

* Mandikan dengan Amitraz 0.025% (25ml Amitraz dicampur dengan air sebanyak 10 liter) 4 kali mandi dalam 1 minggu, lalu diturunkan menjadi 6 kali mandi selama 2 minggu. Jika dalam 2 bulan berturut-turut kerokan kulitnya negatif dari kutu demodek maka pengobatan dapat dihentikan .
* Berikan antibiotik oral (Cephalexin, trimetroprim-sulfa, atau Oxacilin) jika terdapat infeksi sekunder (fuliculitis pyoderma).
* Jika kasus demodeknya membandel bisa diberikan Ivermectin 200-600μg/kg PO sehari sekali untuk 14 hari. Atau injeksi 300 μg/kg SC hari 1 dan ke-14.
* Monitor dalam 1 tahun untuk dievaluasi kemungkinan kambuh lagi.
* Pertimbangkan makanan yang seimbang dan baik untuk kulit.


2. General Demodex case:
- bathe the dog with Amitraz 0.025%( 25ml Amitraz mix with 10 litres of water) 4 bathing times in 1 week, and then less the dose to 6 bathing times in 2 weeks. If, in 2 months the peeled skin is negative from demodex, you can stop the amitraz. (the peeled skin has to be tested under a microscope to see whether the demodex are not there anymore)
- give oral antibiotic(Cephalexin, trimetroprim-sulfa, or Oxacilin) if there is secondary infection
- if the demodex spreads, give Ivermectin 200-600μg/kg PO once a day for 14 days.
- You have to monitor it in 1 year to be evaluated whether or not the demodex will attack the dog again.
- Balanced nutritious food for the dog is good for skin.

my addition..buy fish oil, it is good for dog's skin..
