Left 4 Dead is an upcoming multiplayer co-operative survival horror first-person shooter game by Turtle Rock Studios which is, as of January 10, 2008, part of Valve Corporation. The game has been built using Valve's Source engine and will be available on the PC and Xbox 360. Certain Affinity is responsible for the Xbox 360 version of the game. Left 4 Dead puts four human playable or AI controlled survivors of an apocalyptic pandemic against hordes of the Infected. Regular Infected are controlled by the game AI, while human players can control up to four mutated Boss Infected with special abilities. The Survivors' goal of Left 4 Dead is to help each other make it through a level to safety. Infected players must cooperate to stop them.
The expected release date for Left 4 Dead is November 4 2008 everywhere but the United Kingdom, where it is November 7. The game was first revealed in the Christmas 2006 publication of PC Gamer UK with a six-page article describing a playthrough at Valve's headquarters. A teaser was released with The Orange Box. The game was first playable at the Showdown 2007 LAN in San Jose and at QuakeCon 2007.
A Playstation 3 version of Left 4 Dead has been confirmed in development, however it will not be directly made by Valve, but by developer EA. Left 4 Dead is timed exclusive so the exact date of a Playstation 3 release has yet to be confirmed.

It looks interesting....4 players coop survival horror zombie killing game. Should be fun...but are they nuts for going head to head with Gears of War 2 release? (Both are shooter.)
Why in the world did they use a green color background. I thought the game was full of reds and more reds. The broken hand depicts the game well enough. Overall still not to my liking. Looks cheap.
well you can always trust Valve to come with something good in terms of storyline.
chaotic zombies? to me that's cool as i always loved how those "zombies" in 28 Days Later acts compared to RE (first 3 installment)... and yes, welcome back TK!! surely adds more fun to the game...
After watching the trailer, i can somehow feel the intensity and the fun of just pouring out chains of bullets at that big fatty meat ball. Have to look out for floating concretes though
Funny the game cover art is completely different from what was speculated. The green background with the 4 fingers are gone and replaced with just a simple Left4Dead title on it.

This I think I am going to get the steam version since valve game can run on any cheap laptop and still looks good. Best of all, 360 controller works flawlessly on my laptop

Demo is out!!! The demo comes with coop multiplayer.
The graphic is nothing to shout about but its gameplay is really fun!!! Don't take my word for it, try it with 3 of your buddies at higher difficulty....the suspense
i just tried the demo.. oh my god!!! graphic.. so so.. bodies don't stay.. but ohh my god.. ZOMBIE rush!!! and the lighting effects of shooting the gun in a dark apartment.. that is SOOOOOO cool!!
But.. wow... who ever thought that tying a flash light on your gun would give such a suspenseful effect when you reload.
Getting thrown around by the brute zombie was an experience. Figuring out how NOT to use the gas tank was also a fun experience as I cooked my fellow survivors.
I like how the player automatically calls out important stuff like there's pills here.... guns here.. ammo here.. would think that's really helpful in coop mode.

All the lead I pumped into her couldn't save Yoroi from one knock down.

The game is short I guess, just four big movies. But think of it as an arcade game, the places you visit might be the same, but the zombie placement, weapon placement, all might be different. So you might know where to go, but what dangers await you are different, so there's no "hold up guys, there's a big guy waiting for us around the next corner" It's suspense everytime you play.
And of course.. there's the competitive mode. but haven't tried that yet.

When a bunch of zombies are dumped on you, you just pull the trigger and not worry about wheter or not u can get a headshot. so the question i like to ask the developers is... why is there a sniper rifle in the game?

Of course can invite friends, heck by default the game which we start friends can just JUMP IN anytime while playing.

Arrggg.. made it to the end of chapter 2, summoned the rescue vehicle and as I was making a run for the boat, my 'friends' leave me behind to be swarmed!! No achievement unlocked for me!!
Anyway on another note it seems that the game will award you achievements for "Doing X in a whole campaign" even if you just start at the final chapter.
Makes some of the achievements actually possible now!
Been playing every night, you haven't noticed? I ugess you were too busy driving Anyway I found out that the game ALWAYS uses a dedicated server, so what we have to do is to keep on creating games until we connect to a server that gives us GREEN network lines (press back to see the connection status)
only got one survival achievement cause on the 2nd Act, Kevin left me to die with the zombies as he escaped.

damn.. i hate the way the servers work lar. we spend 10~20mins just looking for a server that is GREEN in ping, cause this game uses dedicated servers ALWAYS, it's not hosted on our boxes.

first time look at the story(cutsene) before going to main menu it looks awesome
but after playing co-op with my bro a bit dissapointed not too realistic,it runs too fast and if im not mistaken cnnt zoom target and the graphics look like difference from cutsene
im playing normal mode and this game a bit ok la but too many zombies and i hate it when they gangbang to kill ppl,that time cnnt do anything and if it game over must start from the very first,no checkpoint and not really afraid,i just play 2 chap this game ok2 la,
i just got the game and frankly its quite a disappointment .. i think this game is suitable for party event . if play solo quite boring and cannot be the number 1 on shooting all the zombies coz the cpu tapau all the zombies leaving u in 4th place .. and i agree with fivezal, they should add checkpoints and also the zoom mode one ( prolly people who play COD find this game quite frustrating i think ) ive not yet play co op with the others prolly because of the screamyx lembabness .

sorry dude. ppl have been ranting since 2005 and looks like it ain't gonna change anything soon. but for that kinda money with what the kind of service they give (matchmaking, etc) i guess it's good than some of free multiplayer on pc.
I wonder if the dedicated servers are around in the UK so you'll get a nice experience playing.
right now because of the internet problems it's actually pretty easy to start a local hosted game, hahaha cause the game can't contact the dedicated server farm.
Omg.. This game.. is the most disappointing game eva! The player movement are too fast! Doesnt feel realistic when killing zombie.. Lack of fun content.. and can move through stuff.. OMG?!
OH ya.. about the gold stuff.. cmon.. $50 for a year.. If you wan to play online using PC.. go ahead.. the service are poor.. and you will lag reli bad.. + PC games.. the only multiplayer games that we can play w/e much lag are COD4/5.. not many player tho.. counter strike.. and warcraft.. thats all.. in garena* while most console games support online~
Finally hopped on the L4D bandwagon and I must say its pretty glorious~! Sweet games last nite with Marau, Kevin and Sinjaxx, though the freakin AI director just had to get the The Tank to kill the only guy (me) who hasn't gotten the achievement yet! Aaarrggh!!!
Kill 50,000++ in one game? wah.. what are you going to do? barricade yourself in the finale map?

Then you walk in the middle then.. so when a smoker gets the guy in the back you try and rescue the hunter will get you, when the front gets puked on and you try to save the guy, you get dragged by the smoker.

For me my 360->Switch->Router->internet, so I just pull my cable connecting switch to router to do this.
So step one is to get into the lobby screen where you can start the game and before you select start game, disconnect the network as I mentioned before THEN select start game. It might show that you're signed out from live but don't worry about it.
Once the 5 sec countdown for hosting starts reconnect the network, sign back into live if you were signed out.

This is the perfect game for Xbox Live 8 players party. It's said vs mode 4 v 4 but for survivor it still feels like coop because killing "human" zombie doesn't really increase the score by a big margin as your main objective is to survive!! As for "human" zombie the experience is really....unique?

Wouldnt you get throw out of the lobby screen onto the main menu once you disconnect from LIVE? I tried pulling the cable from my 360 in the lobby after i created my own private game and it didnt worked.
that's why like I said, you don't pull the 360's cable. Whatever you do must allow the 360 to keep connected, but not to the internet. do it right before you press the Start Game option in the lobby screen.

Nice...but first they need to release patch for 360 version. People been glitching in vs mode and it is getting annoying.
The glitch I am talking about is the zombie keep moving objects like trash can to block the sewer exit in No Mercy...(the part where you goto climb up the ladder) or the elavator level. Bummer...
that's not really glitching, more like players did the unexpected. Zombies were given the power to knock stuff around to make them look powerful, guess sometimes when you have an actual physics engine, people do weird shit that weren't expected.

I'm not sure if this is a glitch or not,but this happened when I played both PC and 360 versions. When you're reloading with a clip(not shotgun or auto-shotgun),you can do a melee in the middle of it,and it will instantly reload.
Read that it doesnt work for the PC version because it has already been fixed with an update but afaik the 360 version hasnt got any update for some time. So we can give this way a try.
Interesting thing happned last night was when my son sat down and watched me play, at first my wife thought he would be scared by the zombies, but after the first boomer vomit incident I knew he wasn't paying much attention other than telling me to "Bang bang" more when I was just running around.
This is because.. my son doesn't know that zombies are scary yet.

Thanks to the regular attendees (Mr. Liangwc and Mr. eye3X3) to my zombie fest ya! Its been a few days already that we got stuck at the finale of Blood Harvest and tonight was one of those nights that we have to give up trying...
when you see a tank.. throw a molotov, or start a fire in his direct path, with him burning it'll be easier to take him down.
also instead of running together, scatter. then when you see that the tank has chosen a target, that guy runs while everyone else converge on the tank.
when the non targets get close enough to the tank, the tank will choose a new target so once you see the tank stop chasing the old target scatter and repeat.
worked well when i was playing with the AI, should be easier with real players.
So I FINALLY made it to the Finale of DeathToll on Expert... ALONE!! I tried to finsih the campaign a few times but I just couldn't keep the AI alive long enough so that the boat arrives. The AI's main problem is of course that they don't believe in sacrificial lambs!
They just have to rush out and save a guy who has been drawn outside by a smoker!
So I waited for Kevin to pop into the game to give me a hand (which he didn't cause he was too busy trying to solve the mystery of how to get Goken in SF4)
And then BOOM...my router disconnects = xbox live disconnects = I get kicked out to the main screen...

you forgotten ar? back from graw1 days i already famous for team killing. but don't forget i also have the highest number of helping survivor to stand back up. because i'm the one that shot them down..
btw, how come yesterday i didn't get any achievement for completion of death toll ar? is it because i'm already dead before the boat arrive?
Is it only me or what, after playing this game for quite a lot, I just noticed in the first campaign at chapter 3 - sewer, in the tunnel (right after a room that u must get in to go further) there is a graphic glitch, the wall of the tunnel looks slimy + green/cyan and when its dark, when i turn off the flashlight.
This is only at the tunnel right after a room, which when you crouch along it you will stumble upon a red light.
I don't really know how to describe how the glitch looks like, but it look "slimy" with green/cyan colour and it only happens inside there when its purely dark. When I turn on the flashlight or there is a gunfight, the wall looks fine. Weird.
Oh my god... that was so violent. Liang do you know the hosting trick so that you do local hosting and get a better playing experience? Me, Yoroi and Kevin just tried to survive... fark.. 4:40 on the crane... not good at all! It's just a joke when you see EVERYONE gets pulled by smokers and then pounced by hunters, then the tank 'saves' you by punching the hunter off you, then punching you to a pulp!
survival mode is damn power man... no need to aim one... shoot in any random direction sure hit something hahahahaha... but when 3-4 smokers come out athe same time with 3-4 hunters ah...sure hailat...

2 minutes after the match started and I was guarding the door.. they break through the rear wall.
20 seconds later I die..

Wokay...not the easiest game to play this survival mode But fun nonetheless. Somehow all out flaming/explosive strategies always backfire on us and quite a few of us end up swimming in the ocean in the light house level
The term "Don't Jinx it" seems to fit for survival mode

a little observation... if you poistion yourself just slightly to the edge of the highest platform on the lighthouse level, somehow the smokers on teh ground level will not be able to constrict you, BUT they dont stay down there for long...
