Hey i was wondering how painful the darts are ? Like for example, the long shot... if shot at someone 10 metres away... will it be painful ?

Curious eh... wana get one myself. hahaha. The pain and range factor is kinda important.

I did some research on the net one the strength and durability of Nerf guns... and found some pretty cool stuff.

Now i assume everyone will want to do a basic mod with their Nerfs... instructions to these mods are easily found on YouTube or any other Nerf fansite. ( You will be surprised at how freaking popular it is in the US... )

1. Nerf Firefly
- Average firepower, rate of fire and range

- Glowing darts kinda a waste of time... why do u want ur opponents to see ur bullets at night ?

2. Nerf Recon
Pros
- Average firepower and range
- Good rate of fire
- Good customisation ( the rail system lets u add many add-ons... hence the box says : " Be Prepared For Any Mission ! " XD )
Cons
- The stock is flimsy... its designed for kids anyway and might not stand up to rough handling
- The flip-up sight is totally useless. Get a laser pointer instead.

Overall : Only buy this if u are serious about modding... cause there are Nerfs that do alot better than this... WITHOUT any mods. The Recon can only do well with lots of modding. ( www.nerfhaven.com )


3. Nerf Nite Finder EX-3
Pros
- Amazing firepower and range for its price... ( believe me its stronger than a Recon ) very easy to mod, strong built quality
- A simple modification can make this pistol go further than the Long Shot... ALOT further...
Cons
- The laser is only useful at about 15 ft though... any further and its inaccurate.
- Slow rate of fire.

Excellent gun. Nuff said.

4. Nerf Longshot
Pros
- Good firepower and range.... about 30 ft.... but for its large size its quite shameful lol. Expected the range to be much longer....
- Cool reloading mechanism ( like a real sniper )
- The quick reload clips are very useful
- Goes up to 100 ft with simple mods ( www.nerfhaven.com )

Cons
- Bulky and big ( you dont want ur girlfren seeing you lugging this toy home, do you ? )
- In my ( PERSONAL ) opinion, the price is a little too much for its performance... mod it if u ever want to get it.


5. Nerf Maverick
- Good firepower and range
- Excellent rate of fire ( it works like a revolver... each time u cock and fire, the barrel automatically turns to the next bullet... so all u need to do is to cock again to fire )
- Once u remove the air restrictors it can get you about 35-40 ft range... not bad.

Overall a good gun.

Well i havent got time to check out other guns... but these few seem to be the more popular ones. Especially the Maverick and Nite Finder...

Did 2 simple mods to my maverick... 1 is to remove the air restrictors ( NO cutting required... very easy job )
But the firepower produced isnt what i expected though... just an additional 1 metre or so. The maverick is one of the harder guns to mod cuz of the rotating barrel... the rotating barrel has lots of gaps in which the air can escape... thus reducing the amount of power that goes into each dart... Need to find for more mod ideas...

I followed the steps mentioned in the link above... but i only removed the springs and the three-pronged bits from the barrel chambers ( and thus there is no need to cut anything out ) ... i then placed the long orange plastic piece ( which holds the darts ) back into the barrel chambers, and screwed everything back together.
What i got was : around 1 metres improved range ( better than nothing... lol... ), much louder firing sound. ( more chi kek la... haha )

Hmm i still cant find a proper way to seal the Maverick properly so it wont leak air... the barrel system makes it hard to mod. As i have mentioned in earlier posts, removing air restrictors only give about extra 1 metre or so... cuz the gun still leaks air. Most of the power is dissipated this way.

But overall the barrel system is the one that makes this gun fun, though. I love revolvers.

The best in the nerf range currently is the Nite Finder ex3.... easiest to mod, yet gives the best results. Cuz the system is very basic, no complicated mechanisms. Easy to seal.

Actually its more on skill la. The modded guns dun go any much further than normal... unless u do crazy heavy modding la, which none of us here do.

And the air restrictor modding only increases range eh... during war time u will be too frantic and excited to aim... u will want to keep firing/reloading only.

The maverick leaks alot of air out unnecesarrily because of its revolver design. Too many gaps.... so even by removing air restrictors u still get little extra powah only. Its near impossible to seal lol. The nitefinder can give you MUCH longer range if u seal it properly though.
