I have an iPhone with 1.1.4 firmware (will upgrade to 2.0 when its secure). However i have never used it to sync with iTunes despite using it for over a month so far.

Applications in the appstore requires itunes to download them. To download them using iTunes, an account is needed. To register an account, credit card information is required.

What i want to know is :

If i do not own a credit card. I can't create an iTunes account?
How am I going to download the free Apps available in appstore if i dont have a credit card?

Clarification will be great.. thanks in advanced

myb u wanna try using debit card (prepaid visa / mastercard). even the new maybank atm card has visa on it.

when u r at the registration page, it will ask card info.

btw if u don't want to use card and u r only intending to download free apps, u can use coupon generators to create free account in iTunes US account. just search for iTunes Store Account in AppleByte. u'll get lots of info on creating free accounts with using fake address, without card.

but remember though that iTunes Store US only accepts US credit cards (in case u wanna perform any purchase). u can purchase coupons with store credit from ebay or just buy store credit from our forumer here (dunno he still provide the credit or not) as alternative to credit cards.

but if u wanna purchase via iTunes Store Malaysia, u can use our cards. but for iTunes Store Malaysia only AppStore is available. all transactions are in USD.

I'm a noob with the apple thingy and i just got an ipod touch. I have a public bank debit card, and somehow, when i entered my card number, it said that malaysian store doesn't support debit card as method of payment. So, this means that the only way to purchase apps or songs or whatever in the store, i do need a credit card? (apart from the give card thingy)

opt for an itunes gift card instead.

for the question u can follow the guide here. u don't have to use a debit card to create iTunes account. but if u want to get purchasable apps or songs from the iTunes Store u need to get iTunes Gift Card.

for paid apps and medias on iTunes Store, Malaysia iTunes Store only provides AppStore in it. u have to open an US iTunes account to make purchase on music, videos, apps, etc etc. and u can't link malaysian credit / debit card to your US iTunes Store account, paypal also can't be used to link malaysia card for use in iTunes Store.
