RM150 for a new ceiling fan point. My power is existing from the ceiling lights. Just need to do light hacking to connect wall switch with the ceiling fan and power supply. Also install hook and finish and installation.
Not much damage to the plaster ceiling. My electrician cut the hole small enough that the base cover hides it.

Job done in July 2014

What would be a reliable brand for a high ceiling fan?

Thanks,

to my knowledge, no ceiling fan comes with 5' rod. you just ask the seller and normally they will just order from supplier for the rod.

I thought we need to drill hole on the plaster ceiling or something? Standard charge for fan installation is around RM30 to 50.. If the contractor charge lower then can consider hehhe...

Ur renovation still on-going?
If yes, just ask them to do the hook.
Contractor should charge lower, if ur nego skill good they proabbly free for u.
The hook is cheap just like RM2.50 the rest is thier "service fee".

Hello. Sir, how much would it cost if it is a normal ceiling not a plaster ceiling, and there is no existing hook or wiring? Thank you.

No hook presently, more trouble.

Need to make a hole at the plaster ceiling, fix a hook, wiring, point, installation.

RM20 + RM30 + RM 60 + RM20 + RM20 = RM150.

Exclude patching back the plaster ceiling, fan & is wiring is thru casing. Not hidden in wall.

i buy the remote ceiling fan, so no need to wiring. since there is a wire point on the ceiling already. then ask nearby electric shop to do drill & attach the hook. they charged me rm15 (labor + the hook). assemble the fan myself & attach it using ladder. voila. less tahn 30mins & it just cost me rm15. my advise to you is go ask around 3-10 electric shop nearby ur house for help.
