Federer always get Novak for match-up.... blink.gif

so whats you guys take in this tournament?

will Nadal claim his 5th straight Rolland Garros trophy?

will Federer finally stop him, and complete his haul for all the Slams plus equalling Sampras' record?

or will some other surprise candidate break the duo's domination?

God knows what he did in the toilet.... laugh.gif

Awesome comeback in the third set though. Fourth set was total ownage over Haas.
At one point in the 5th set, Haas actually had the chance to come back. But didn't execute the opportunity properly.

Now lets see if Roddick or Monfils wins the next match. If its another Federer vs Roddick.... Well, I've already lost count how many times Federer has won over Roddick.
*
i'd prefer he plays Roddick as Fed knew his style well....rather than gamble on Monfils....this year is the greatest chance for him to complete his career slam, hope he don't squandered it...

sigh.. its monfils.. i was hoping it would be roddick. surely the french are gonna support their local hero. COME ON ROGER! =)
*
well to be a champion you will need to take these type of hurdles...but what interesting was, when Nadal playing the crowd was supporting Soderling, but when Fed was playing, the crowd cheered Roger all the way biggrin.gif

lmao...

The king of clay is no more, he got dethroned. Plain and simple.
Rafa is no more the king of clay.
*
lost in 2 consecutive clay court tournament, hardly a performance of "king of clay"...but i think he will bounce back.....

and....do you guys think Rafa ever gonna complete the career slam?

another tough match for Roger...well maybe he needed all the sweats and works to remind him that being the only top 4 player who still playing IS not an absolute advantage...

but again, seeing him playing like that makes us fans really nervous....tongue.gif

Wow the fans have already updated the victory at Roger's wikipedia website! So efficient! LOL

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Federer
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ATP_World_Tour_records#Ranking

14 grand slams, 20 consecutive semi final appearances, 3 small slams, 1 career grand slam... not a bad record isnt it? smile.gif
*
history awaits him at Wimbledon....breaking Sampras' record on the surface the former king of tennis loved the most

but yea, appearing in 20 consecutive semi finals is a huge achievement, not to mention those slams he won...

yeah.. proving himself atleast top4 qualities for like.. 20 times straight?!!! Are you kidding me? It looks almost insane to me!

He could also be in his 16th consecutive Final appearance should he had not lost to Njokovic last year. Again... wat a record!

I'm looking forward to seeing Roger grabs back his Wimbledon title from Nadal and claiming back his No.1 position...  pls roger pls!
*
seconded this, hopefully by winjing this "final piece to career grand slam", he could recover his former invincible touches...

Job done, Federer.  rclxms.gif

ya, maybe the qoute "never won at Roland Garros" affects his play...lets see how he will play without this pressure in the future...

mostly when a player plays under no pressure, he will performed better than normal...lets hope Federer is under this condition smile.gif

QUOTE(darky @ Jun 8 2009, 10:25 AM)
if people are saying he has finally completed his career grand slam, does anyone think about the possibility of 2 players achieving the same feat in a year? Rafa only needs to win the US Open to complete his career slam too. Then that would be tying Agassi's record of career slam + Olympic gold medal + Davis Cup title. (that's something Federer will never ever able to get, too bad)

To be able to tie Sampras' record of 14 slams is a great achievement. biggrin.gif
*
well Fed had the chances 3-4 years back, but he only completed the feat this year....so it won't be easy for Nadal, remember that the court is not clay =)

Fed will be there to stop him for sure

I think Djokovic has been under-par in Grand Slam this year.. really disappointing results from him since the start of the year.. He did give Nadal a tough match in Madrid, so close to beating him, but i think he overplayed, peak at the wrong time, while Federer slowly got into the form, then played best tennis in the Roland Garros final. Smart!

Yes, tennis is really competitive now, and not an one match show by Nadal... and i think there are many players who can beat Nadal on grass, those who hit hard and flat, like Soderling... And we have Del Potro, who is improving so fast, almost beat Federer in the semifinal!

And of course Murray, who will be in the centre of attention in Wimbledon, because he's a britian, so much pressure on him, not sure whether he can handle them well.

And Nadal, who seems to be the best player before Roland Garros, suddenly derailed and now has abit of injury issue. Federer will have to take advantage of this and break Sampras' record in Wimbledon!
*
it can all be summed up in 1 word --> experience biggrin.gif

in the past where Fed is dominating the game, he utilizes his skills, now when there's younger players who can out-skilled him, he switched to experience play he gained throughout his career, plus his tough mentality, no one really could rule him out....he might go on to win another 5-6 grand slams before he retire...

remember that Sampras won his 14th when he was 31, Fed won his 14th when he is only 27

found this on wikipedia, don't know you guys had read this before or not

Jimmy Connors: "In an era of specialists - you're either a clay court specialist, a grass court specialist or a hard court specialist... or you're Roger Federer"

well thats really sums up his ability tongue.gif

Lolz. Well, airing in delayed form is just equally ridiculous isn't it? o.O Sports are about live... you want to feel the emotions, atmosphere in the stadium.... not after u already know the score then you watch it.. the spark in the match is just not there anymore!

Federer still hasn't decided yet whether to play in Gerry Weber Open (grass court tournament).. I think he's abit emotionally spent... not sure whether its good for him to play so much tennis... He won the Wimbledon 2007 without having to play a warm up grass court event.
*
ya, all the suspense will be gone when watching delay matches...you won't feel a thing if you already know he will save that match point, so i only watch replay to see the skills they display biggrin.gif

I hope Nadal will be fit enough to defend his wimbledon title..Tournaments are not fun without the combination of Nadal + Federer..

Murray and Hewitt playing doubles together at Queen's..That's quite nice

what if one day Fed team up with Nadal for doubles? brows.gif brows.gif
