i'm still very very disappointed with the match. There was no doubt in my mind that nadal vs verdasco match was much better. more exciting. more power packed. match of the tournament.
Speaking about the final match,
i don't think federer was "federer" yesterday. without a doubt, federer has a HUGE psychological barrier when he plays nadal. you can compare his stats when he play the rest of the guys in the tournament and against nadal. i think his first serve percentage in the final was his lowest of the tournament. i think federer needs a coach, fitness instructor and a psychologist. federer HAS to come back fitter and stronger than before. if roddick(lost 15 pounds) could do it, i'm sure federer could do it too. i'm 101% sure that federer will be better on court if he is fitter. but honestly speaking, i dun think federer will ever win against nadal ever again. simply becos he will never be the federer we know when he plays nadal. federer had tons of opportunities to break serve at 0-40 and 15-40 but hardly converted any. that's why i am so disappointed with the final.
On another note, federer vs nadal will never be one of the greatest rivalry in tennis. simply because it's very lop sided. nadal will always triumph as the winner.
one of the greatest rivalry in tennis were
1) bjorn borg vs mcenroe
2) sampras vs agassi
the 2 rivalries mentioned above are most of the time a 50-50 occasion. however this does not apply to federer vs nadal.
it happened in roland garros, wimbledon and now in the aussie open. the ONLY reason federer won in the US open was becos he did not play against nadal or he would have lost there too.
there was no doubt in my mind that nadal was the deserving winner yesterday. playing 10 hours of tennis in 24 hours and winning at both occasions is a tremendous achievement. hats off to him. he deserves it. if u asked me, federer never looked like the winner in the final. i'm still disappointed. very disappointed. especially seeing federer crying and out of words. something which no fans will be able to swallow. however, that's the beauty of tennis. the loser has to suck it all up and try again. and i hope that day will come again where the loser, federer will beat nadal in a grand slam final like the good old days.
that's a tad too harsh ain't it. federer don't even have fitness instructor and psychologist meh ? thought just no coach
