QUOTE(Mike3300 @ Aug 24 2008, 09:56 PM) If you can't even decide your needs, why should you ask based on other people's need or choice. Just look at the product, read reviews, and see for yourself if you really need the new features and be using it or not. If not then just stick with the old ones. must be because of this:If just keep on waiting and waiting, you ain't gonna get or buy anything as technology evolves pretty fast. Consumers buy based on their needs and use. Added on August 24, 2008, 9:56 pmJust a friendly post here, no flamings included. Kopitiam Ops in progress - Trolls be warned. celcom internet-on-the-go is decent, i dare to say.
i use the xpax rm8 daily broadband once in a while when i need to use internet on the move. speed et cetera is fine, except when it comes to loading a bulky site and gets idle perpetually. |

it's long story on how the telecommunication business works in malaysia. just google on how much apple expects (to steal) out of the from network providers globally.
so for the time being, just grow up and don't be a biatch and moan all day long. when the time is correct, iphone will arrive at our shores. Added on November 14, 2008, 12:43 amof course having said that, IF the malaysian network provider go get their hands on the iphone contract, they will definitely charge a premium for it (to satisfy both economic monopoly principles and also royalty to apple). by then, knowing the public, will proceed to complain (and subsequently open redundant threads) about the extortionate malaysian iphone prices. QUOTE(SuperG @ Nov 21 2008, 10:41 AM) if the official iphone 3g come to late, just buy a locked one because the official dev team is almost achieve to unlock the iphone 3g via SOFTWARE UNLOCK. yes you are right SuperG (but to an extend). surely we know that locked iphones are cheaper. however experience from the previous generation will tell us that artificially unlocked units will still possess disadvantages as compared to officially unlocked units.read this http://www.iphoneincanada.ca/iphone-news/i...ne-step-closer/ when i was using maxis on my artificially unlocked first gen iphone (software unlocked), the rate of call failures/dropped calls/unsent text messages were so high that i almost gave up on iphone permanently. but when i migrated over to an officially unlocked unit from SingTel, (which i'm very glad i did) i have never experienced such unfortunate incidents anymore. now that's what i call a truly pleasant experience with my iphone! not to mention, with the upcoming fw 2.2 coming along, i will be glad as hell to be able to click the "update" tab for my 3G without any sorts of hesitation! no more keeping my fingers cross that someone will be able to overcome the so called cheap-skate 3G individuals disabilities. QUOTE(rx330 @ Nov 21 2008, 11:20 AM) well not for me definitely! maxis has been serving me well ever since!Added on November 21, 2008, 11:25 am QUOTE(SuperG @ Nov 21 2008, 11:17 AM) yes you right, the dev team did said if you want to unlock the iphone 3g,but you must not EVER upgrade to software 2.2 which got sum good goodies. from my personal point of view, not upgrading to the latest fw is not the main concern, mine is actually those call failures/dropped calls/unsent text messages. i mean it's a phone afterall. imagine having the need to make an urgent phone call, and you are faced with all these travesties (i swear to God, that i feel like smashing my first generation iphone on the floor sometimes)thts one of the disadvantage,my guess the best solution is just to wait for official launch (like tht's gonna happen soon, duh), but having a unlocked iphone is better than not to have one, rite? QUOTE(SuperG @ Nov 21 2008, 11:38 AM) one other way to buy unlocked iphone 3g,if you have a friend or relatives in singapore, ask them to buy an iphone which bound to sum plan (but still it is unlocked bcos singapore doesn't allow locked phone) which around 308$ singapore dollar for 16gb version then pick the cheapest monthly plan for about 52$ then after a month, terminate your subscribed plan and you'l get a penalty of 800$ .aafter tht, your iphone 3g is free to use!(not to bound on any contract, unlocked) no offense, but i reckon that almost all the regulars in this forum already know that, even from the day 1 when it was launched in singapore.if you do the calculations 308+52+800= 1160$ is only bout rm 2700 sumthing.thts alot cheap than the iphone 3g tht sell in malaysia, in fact, you don't even need the hassle of getting someone to sign up a contract from you; private sellers can sell you at a much cheaper price minus the hassle (and the warranty coverage is still applicable) |

old news as well.
if they intend to bring in iphones into the country - before attempting to conduct a negotiation with apple, surely they have to try it out with the network first. what's the point of negotiation if their own network cannot even support them? |

QUOTE(MattJ @ Dec 8 2008, 12:16 AM) Hanxz, hmmm... to ensure that we are on the same page. how do you define your DFU mode?U sure? I put in her MAxis 3g sim card and the phone is still in DFU mode need to be connected to Itunes I believe. Unfortunately that time I did not have my lappie handy so did not proceed. This is a 8gb 3G iphone fresh from Voda, NZ. i once helped this dude with a new zealand unit, where his unit was perpetually in a loop (the white apple logo around the black background) what i did was to initiate the usual Pwnagetool method; hold power and button for 10 seconds (using my watch) and then release bla bla bla. |

i don't even need to anticipate this as a déjà vu, as the typical malaysian attitude will appear shortly after the so-called official launch (even if it is true to begin with).
this short scenario will ensue later... 1. oh finally! after the two agonising years wait, iphone has finally arrive at our shores. no longer i have to worry about the warranty issues (typical malaysian necessity) 2. WTH? i cannot believe that maxis is selling the iphones for so darn expensive. unbelievably blood sucking.... man, this is what i get for living in malaysia where cronyism/corruption/lack of corporate moral fibers (insert whatever is relevant) persists. 3. WTH again? i also have to sign up a contract to fuel this extortionate monthly contract fees? 4. argghhh... forget it. i'm just gonna buy my iphone from a neighbouring country for a much cheaper price. don't think that i need that warranty coverage afterall; just a plain waste of money as i'm pretty sure that apple products are God sent. furthermore since they charge us a premium, a malfunction is very unlikely.
