The news here. Located at GOG.com and slated to launch in September, the online store will sell DRM-free digital downloads of old-school PC games at $5.99 or $9.99 a pop. A closed public beta will go live on August 1, with the site currently accepting beta applications. The interviewWhen it launches in September, CD Projekt's Good Old Games will offer cheap, DRM-free digital downloads of long-lost old-school PC titles like Fallout, Fallout 2, Jagged Alliance 2, Sacrifice, Descent 1-3 and Kingpin: Life of Crime, among others.
Priced at either $5.99 or $9.99, these aren't straight re-releases. CD Projekt has done work to ensure that each game is now compatible with Windows XP and Vista, going so far as to create a custom installer for each game. A closed public beta demonstrating this is set to go live on August 1, with the site currently accepting applications.

this is great! Great games like Fallout should always be introduced to the new generation or those who have never played it. And the little fee required to download the games is justifiable, if it means we're able to play it on Windows Vista which has horrible compatibility with older games.
I still remember introducing Fallout 2 to my friend who was still using first generation Pentium a few years back. He was so excited, and in just a few days showed me some of his saved games that were really hilarious.

nope, haven't even seen it. but I just realise CD Projekt are the guys who created the enhanced stuff in Witcher Enhanced Edition. And I have just went to their website. Damn, they have Gothic, Jagged Alliance, Giants: Citizen Kabuto and Ghost Master besides Fallout for sale too. Ahh all those great nostalgic games... For those yet to try any of these games, I really REALLY recommend you to buy it from GOG

It was fun the first few levels but became a chore just to get to the next level.

It was fun the first few levels but became a chore just to get to the next level. you should google for walkthroughs. There are many various ways to utilise your ghosts power. It's really hilarious game as you try and scare away ppl, but be careful of the ghostbusters QUOTE(technophile @ Nov 7 2008, 03:07 PM) i've been using it since beta. got my fallout 2 from there. no issues what so ever with my vista. totally recommended. now.. if only they bring back Grim Fandango, i will be a happy man. Yeah, the best thing is they made sure these classics are compatible with WinXP and Vista. Somemore I believe they come with goodies like game guides, walkthroughs, MP3 game soundtracks, wallpapers and more. Goodies oldies made better!
