Personally, I doubt there is any hope or future for movies that centers on tournament battles. It was interesting back then but I don't think it's the same at present time.

Instead of just focusing about the tournament, they should've put a strong plotline.... something epic, and not just fighting endlessly like no reason.
MK is one f**king awesome video game. |

QUOTE More on 'Mortal Kombat 3': Screw the Prequel, Here Comes a Reboot Since the original Mortal Kombat was one of the first films I watched in a theater with surround sound, I hold a special place in my heart for this franchise. I was a big fan of the video games growing up, but, like everyone else, was extremely let down by the films -- most notably, the sequel: Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (or Mortal Kombat: You People Are Seriously F**king Up Some Really Cool Characters). A third Mortal Kombat flick has been hanging around development hell for awhile now, circling a group of writers (because it will take at least 50 scribes to make this one really suck), yet there's been very little movement on it. ^ as highlighted in red, the FIRST Mortal Kombat movie was NOT a let down (the 2nd one IS). It was hailed as one of the most awesome video-game adaptation to movie ever made! In fact, I think it is the ONLY one there is that was a huge success! |

First Mortal Kombat is Epic Legend. The rest of the sequels just couldn't live up to its First Movie standard. It was hailed as one of the most awesome video-game adaptation to movie ever made! In fact, I think it is the ONLY one there is that was a huge success! My favorite character Reptile LOL. PLAIN EVIL!!!! |

In my mind, ever since the first movie, there is only ONE original Liu Kang, ONE original Raiden, ONE original Johnny Cage, ONE original Sonya Blade and ONE original Kitana.
Any other actors/actresses replacing the originals = 80% I will not watch it. |

QUOTE Warner Bros. seals up Midway acquisition With no other bidders emerging for Midway Games, Warner Bros. has bought most of the company’s assets for $33 million, including the “Mortal Kombat” franchise as well as the company’s legacy arcade games, such as “Joust” and “Spy Hunter”.Mkvsdc The bankruptcy judge overseeing the sale apparently wasn’t swayed by Threshold Entertainment’s argument that film producer Larry Kasanoff was the driving creative force in the franchise. (The Chicago Tribune quotes the judge as saying the objections, as well as those of Vin Diesel-owned development studio Tigon Games were ‘resolved’. |

QUOTE A New Battle For Mankind Begins in 'Mortal Kombat' Tourney, Redo in the Works Bloody Disgusting received word that Warner Bros. Pictures has been looking to redo Mortal Kombat with Oren Uziel in talks to write. Based on Midway's popular 1992 video game, the franchise follows the best fighters from around the globe who are summoned to an island to compete in a tournament whose outcome will determine the fate of the entire planet. Uziel's Shimmer Lake made the 2009 black list, which features the best unproduced screenplays around Hollywood. Johnny Cage was modeled after Jean-Claude Van Damme. No word on the progress of the remake, but we'd like to see a hard "R" version with some actual f*cking fatalities. I WANT FATALITIES! so its a reboot ? no idea what happened to mortal kombat 3. It was supposed to film last September and we haven't heard anything about it since then. This post has been edited by Calvin871989: Jan 26 2010, 03:18 PM |

Will this reboot ever top the 1st movie? @ how Nolan's Dark Knight topped Tim Burton's Batman?
That is the question playing in everyone's mind now Street Fighter: Legend of Chun Li = failed. King of Fighter = failed. Tekken = failed. Dragonball = failed. Dead or Alive = failed. Street Fighter might have been the best fighting games out there, but Mortal Kombat (only the first movie) was the best fighting-game-adaptation to movie ever made. If I see a stupid, lousy trailer popped out like KOF or Tekken, I will not go see it. Period. Learnt my bloody lesson from Chun Li and Dragonball. |

QUOTE 'Mortal Kombat' Thrown Into Legal Match ![]() The "Mortal Kombat" movie franchise is in legal limbo after a breach-of-contract lawsuit was filed against Warner Bros., which reportedly is developing a third film based on the once wildly popular video game. Threshold Entertainment Inc. filed the action Tuesday in Los Angeles, claiming Warners had shut it out of production of the martial arts movie, in which it owns a licensing interest. In the early 1990s, Threshold had entered into a partnership with arcade-game developer Midway to develop "Mortal Kombat" into a variety of media, including two feature films. The lawsuit states that Threshold and Midway entered into an additional contract in 2006 to develop a third "Kombat" movie, including script development and pre-production. But Midway filed for bankruptcy last February, and Warners successfully bid on its properties. Threshold says a federal bankruptcy court upheld its interests and licenses as a part of the sale. The lawsuit states that Warners has "failed to work with Threshold in the development and production of the third 'Mortal Kombat' film," and has avoided communication with the Connecticut-based company, which has offices in Santa Monica. In late January, reports surfaced that a "Mortal Kombat" reboot by Warners was under way, including the hiring of a new screenwriter. Damages are to be ascertained later, the lawsuit states. Warner Bros. did not immediately return a message seeking comment left midday Wednesday by TheWrap. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

What this movie really need, is a real reboot of the frnachise.... Maybe hire the directors frm the movie Tom-Yum Goong.... Real actions, no wireworks. And real chreograhy. Better still, Chris Nolan as the director.... That give a superb storyline, and a hell of an action movie since The Dark Knight!

YOYOYOYOYO! Check this out!!! Sauce: http://www.latinoreview.com/news/mortal-ko...iting-for-10164 QUOTE What is Mortal Kombat: Rebirth? Speculation has run rampant today with the debut of a short "Mortal Kombat" film (subtitled "Rebirth") that made its way anonymously to YouTube. Now, Latino Review reports that the film is, as many theorized, a test for a potential R-rated film reboot of the video game franchise. The short is directed by Kevin Tancharoen, the director of last year's Fame, and features a cast that includes name actors like Michael Jai White (Jax), Jeri Ryan (Sonya Blade), Matt Mullins (Johnny Cage), Lateef Crowder (Baraka) and Ian Anthony Dale (Scorpion) with fight choreography by Larnell Stovall. Though there is no guarantee that these actors will play the characters in a feature film version or even that a feature film will actually happen, the short is already a huge success online, with the word "Kombat" already a trending topic on Twitter. This actually looks promising *Calvin, please help to change the title to include "Rebirth" as a tentative title for this new sequel* Spoiler: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « |

QUOTE(hairyLGS @ May 25 2011, 12:22 AM) I can see it tying into REBIRTH(though that won't happen, since Baraka isn't the same as in REBIRTH.) Scorpion loses the fight, sees his family killed(the character frozen in this episode is the shogun, right? At first I thought it was his wife, but he said shogun,so..), searches the world for Sub Zero..killing hundreds in his quest, gets caught by the police then finally given Sub-Zero's location by Jax(just like in Rebirth)Sometime in his quest he loses his eyes(again, just like in Rebirth) But again, probably won't happen since Jax already has his arms blown off |

In any case... if the movie is in the works... I hope they pull it off well... and not going straight to video format |

Legacy and Rebirth are totally different la, the director said it edi...
But he said one thing for sure is that on the last episode, all the mini episode are linked together, which i find it hard to execute it lol Hope its a good one |

Jax briefing to Scorpion maybe BEFORE he and Stryker & Sonya go infiltrateSometime in his quest he loses his eyes(again, just like in Rebirth) But again, probably won't happen since Jax already has his arms blown off Kano's base the question now was only Baraka.. Yes i think he was non-canon with Legacy storyline |

QUOTE(Damonzero @ Sep 13 2013, 12:53 PM) Oh maybe i guess im wrong about Ermac x Noob saibot and Johnny Cage x Stryker. Which is kung lao? I tot Raiden.. oops.... The dude who's bald. The one that wears the Shaolin costume. The one fighting(that look like a berseker) with Kenshi was Ermac. Stryker was the one using a gun. Cage is in it as well. This post has been edited by erald06: Sep 13 2013, 01:00 PM |

QUOTE(erald06 @ Sep 27 2013, 01:08 AM) Finished watching the whole season! Its too short, i want moarrrrrrr! Its very obvious this season got better budget but seriously i liked the 1st season better, partly due to too many flashback from season 1, not much fight and not much in-game signature moves hehe... |

Is it just me or Raiden sounded like Jackie Chan
I felt that they should have invited those former cast from the original one. 1995 Even the infamous music (1:08) makes you excited. This post has been edited by Raikkonen: Apr 26 2021, 10:14 PM |

aargh.... i wanted this movie to be good but it was soooooo bad.
the storyline (or lack of it), sucks man! action was okay but i can't get over the motives of their fight. it was suppose to be a competition, mortal kombat. but here we are served with pre-fights instead of the actual competition at all. even though it's gory but everything feels very silly and cartoonish. such a let down since i was a major fan looking towards a fresh look for this franchise. it also lacks the infamous soundtrack. bummer. PS: and the way they explain about "choosing" candidates and how it can be substituted, meh! |

movie not bad since the cg effect better, acting better, dialogues/scripts better, much better than those in 1995 and 1997, but music/soundtrack wise still cannot beat the original from 1995.

Finally got to watch it, not in the cinema though because I heard some parts were censored/zoomed in. I thought it was pretty good for a video game movie. The characters were pretty spot on and the fighting was well executed. What I didn't quite like is some of the cringey dialogues and the thing about finding their arcana which I thought was kinda ridiculous (Kano found his because of some eggrolls!) but hey I just roll with it. Oh and they completely butchered the theme song! Overall I think Mortal Kombat fans will have a blast watching this. I still prefer the dumb first movie because I watched it as a kid and it has a special place in my heart.
