Hmm...sorry if this is a noob question; what kind of media files format is runing on iphone? If the media files format does not support in iphone can install codec or any software?

if video, it's either H264 or MPEG4 format with mp4 / m4v extension.
btw i heard before bout VLC for iPhone, but still it's restricted for some format playback as it's still in early stage. furthermore u need to manually transfer the files for playback in vlc for iPhone, u can't use iTunes.

You need to convert those into the format that stated above in order to be view with your iPhone.

bear in mind, that converting a media file will subsequently increase the size.
