Final Destination 5 Official Plot is Expectedly Final Destination-ish

Well, at least you gotta give them credit: the makers of the “Final Destination” movies definitely know a good thing when they see it, and are loathe to make any changes whatsoever to the formula. That’s, you know, admirable, right?

Anyways, here’s the official “Final Destination 5″ presser from New Line Cinema:

QUOTE
Production is underway on New Line Cinema’s fifth installment of the “Final Destination” franchise, which began back in 2000, with the original film quickly becoming a cult hit. The new victims of Death’s plan are part of a cast led by Emma Bell (Frozen, TV’s “The Walking Dead”) and Nick D’Agosto (Fired Up!, TV’s “Heroes”). The film is being shot on location in Vancouver, Canada.

The second of the “Final Destination” films to be shot in 3-D, Final Destination 5 is being directed by Steve Quale, marking his major feature film directorial debut. Producer Craig Perry (”American Pie”) returns for the fifth time, working with executive producers Sheila Hanahan Taylor, Erik Holmberg, Richard Brener, Walter Hamada and David Neustadter. The screenplay was written by Eric Heisserer, with revisions by Gary Dauberman; Heisserer is no stranger to the horror genre, having penned New Line’s recent hit A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Final Destination 5 brings together an ensemble cast that includes Bell and D’Agosto, along with Miles Fisher (TV’s “Mad Men” and “Gossip Girl”), Arlen Escarpeta (Friday the 13th), Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (TV’s “The Bold and the Beautiful”), P.J. Byrne (Dinner for Schmucks) and Ellen Wroe (TV’s “Huge”). Rounding out the rest of the cast are Courtney B. Vance (TV’s “FlashForward,” “ER”), David Koechner (”The Office,” Anchorman) and “Final Destination” franchise icon Tony Todd (Hatchet II).

In this fifth installment, Death is just as omnipresent as ever, and is unleashed after one man’s premonition saves a group of coworkers from a terrifying suspension bridge collapse. But this group of unsuspecting souls was never supposed to survive, and, in a terrifying race against time, the ill-fated group frantically tries to discover a way to escape Death’s sinister agenda.

Collaborating with Steve Quale behind the scenes are director of photography Brian Pearson (Drive Angry 3D, My Bloody Valentine 3D); production designer David Sandefur (Repo Men, Journey to the Center of the Earth); editor Eric Sears (Shooter) and costume designer Jori Woodman (Eight Below).

I like how they don’t even pretend that the characters are anything other than would-be fodder for Death (they just call them “new victims of Death’s plan”). That’s just awesome.

if u are to watch this one... make sure u watch the 3-D version... else forget it... its total bullshit...

some of the death scenes are just ridiculuous... especially the swimming pool and the hospital one...

the CGI effects are so poorly done that some of the death becomes funny instead of horryfing...

plz stop this franchise already... its so predictable that u can actually sleep throught he whole movie... damn i can't believe i spend RM16 for this kind of crappy 3D movie on friday... and have to pay for my gf as well damnit... shakehead.gif

Actually, the swimming pool death scene is based on true event in Russia (I think). But the victim was a little girl.

The trailer is removed sad.gif But never mind, I watched it on other site. It looks promising this time, hope there won't be any 3 seconds death like the 4th one.

Squirm All You Want, the Final Destination 5 Trailer Will Still Get Ya

user posted image

The “Final Destination 5″ trailer has hit the Interwebs. Check it out below, people who enjoy checking out movies where Death stalks pretty young people, while old black people like Tony Todd provide ominous words of warning that, in all likelihood, no one bothers to follow. As with the previous four movies, the fifth “Final Destination” involves a bunch of people who survives a devastating accident thanks to some kid getting a vision, only to have Death return to stalk them in brutal and clever ways. Hey, if it ain’t broke, etc, etc.

By the way, the opening death scene with the laser eye surgery bit? That would have made me squirm like the Devil maybe ten years ago, but since I’ve already gone under the laser, if you will, it’s just amusing now since, you know, I survived it and all.

Starring Emma Bell, Nicholas D’Agosto, Miles Fisher, Arlen Escarpeta, Jacqueline MacInnes-Wood, P.J. Byrne, Ellen Wroe, David Koechner, Courtney B. Vance, and Tony Todd as the Old Man Who Knows Stuff, surely a staple of teen horror movies if there ever was one.

Killin’ in clever and stylish ways August 12, 2011.

The 4th one is the suckest among all. WTF they think? 3D no good either the problem was they focused too much on useless 3D.

The best accident was in the freeway scene.. fuuuuuuu, so scary, because we/i drive car everyday.

1st- plane. Not everyday we take flight.
3rd - Roller Coaster. My last roller coaster ride was 4 years ago.
4th - Circuit. Also same.

The Collision on Highway 23 scene was only nominated under Best Action Sequence category but didn't win it i think.
