The last time I saw a Peavey 5150 was at SLC Music but that was way back and the shop has since closed!! Singapore is probably a good bet...

1 noob question, what are the basic effects that a beginner should get? I've already had Boss DS-2, SD-1 and plan to get a MT-2 real soon. Anything i should get next?
*
Wow, you're a lucky beginner. When most of us started, we only had enough money to get 1 effect and that was it for the next 4-5 years!

To be honest, I had a good collection of effects before but ever since I got a better amp, the only one I use is the CH1 Chorus. Nothing beats the tone of a fantastic amp, with a good reverb and a touch of chorus for clean lines -> e.g. Strat into a Fender HotRod Deluxe + a touch of chorus - ala SRV!

So, my suggestion is to save your money and get a decent amp and a better axe. Good luck!

Vox wah is ok and is way less than the Jim Dunlop ones. I still love my Jim Dunlop Super Volume Wah though.. biggrin.gif

How does the Toneport GX work? I've been looking for something to practice with my electric guitar in college. Do I need to plug it into my laptop for it to work as an amp? Can it work if I terus cucuk my headphone into it?
*
Sorry mate, but the Toneport GX is no longer brought into Malaysia because it's being replaced by the Pod Studio GX (with Pod Farm plug-in).

My suggestion is a Toneport UX1 because you can record from a mic and guitar from the same device. PM me for pricing details. Good luck!

yo guys. need to ask smthng here. did any of u here fly on the flight with ur guitar before? the guitar (in the bag of coz) can put into the cabin compartment upperhead of the passanger? can it fit? another thing is, the AMP can check into the cargo? will it be damaged or smthng?

im flying to my hometown for the first time with my guitar tomorrow laugh.gif

I used to travel with my electric, overseas quite often and even with the soft-case... no problems.

Just make sure you do the following:

1. HAND CARRY the guitar - Don't listen to the counter staff who ask you to check it in, especially if you've got many hand luggages. Tell them it's worth US$2k (or some huge amount) and you'll check it in ONLY IF they compensate you 100% for any damage or loss.

This only works for soft cases (as a hard-case is deemed to be strong).

2. Detune - Detune the guitar slightly to avoid stress to the neck due to changes in temperature and pressure.

3. LOCATION - Don't let some idiot place his 10kg hand luggage on top of your guitar in the overhead compartment. Under the seats at the rear of the plane is where the staff usually place my guitar. If you're lucky, they'll place it in the Business Class suit cupboard.

Good luck! smile.gif
