The iPhone is not supposed to be sold officially in Malaysia as yet, which is the main reason why the Apple Authorized Resellers will not touch it for you, as they're not supposed to.

Furthermore, they've got nobody to send the iPhone to anyways to get it fixed, seeing that the service centers that the resellers sends things to will not take in the iPhone either as they're not supposed to as well.

And even if you managed to find an authorized reseller who has got somebody that's able to operate on the iPhone for you, it'll have to be under the counter and nothing officially related to the store as well.

Apple Malaysia won't be able to help either as the iPhone is not in Malaysia. Do you know that should an Apple employee in a country where the iPhone is not sold officially yet be caught using an iPhone, they'll have their employment terminated?

This is to do with the policies that Apple sets for their authorized resellers. And they're very strict on this.

There's a difference between the taking in of a iPhone purchased normally, and also the taking in of an iPhone that had been unlocked. Keep in mind that unlocking the iPhone effectively voids the warrranty.

Its pretty simple really. You've only need to check the serial number for it to see if the AT&T subscription had been activated for the phone or not. If not, and if you're using it in Malaysia, then its unlocked.

Btw. there's no Apple Stores in Malaysia. There's only Authorized resellers.
