how it look like ah..ma storage box lo.but with better and nicer material...

I use those normal litter tray... jus put at corner then put bedding inside then done...

For the cage i use fleece as bedding since my kenken is toilet trained.

I think breeder celect is better than shaving... don hav dust, and can last longer..absorbant stronger than wood shaving.

1. Royal Canin is good. IAMS is not a recommended brand. U can try Inova, California Natural...

2. Actually you can jus use a ice cream square box then put bedding inside and put in thubby housing.. then everyday pick the poo up and put inside... But u hav to know tat, not all hedgie can be toilet trained.. A lot owners here tried for some time but still can get their hedgie to be trained. Before you toilet train ur thubby, i think u nid to accept the fact that they poo and pee a lot .. The poo is stink or not it depends on what you feed also...

3. Erm, this happened frequently..is normal...give him some time to learn how to use the wheel.. what wheel are u using?

You jus got him, so don expect him to run over and play like his home..he nid some time to adapt to the new environment..Leave him inside the housing for 1-2days.. biggrin.gif

Enjoy the process having hedgie~

eric I have one question for you, how long did it take you to toilet train your hedgie? I mean ken ken... tongue.gif
*
This question muchan shud answer coz i adopted kenken from her.

But anyway, i don think there is a specific time period to toilet train an animal. It depends on the particular pet itself, some can pick up fast some nid some time... However for hedgie, not really all can be toilet trained, and even if it is trained, not 100% also..sometime will miss one or two poo..hahhaa...but it's good enuf lo...

@kaoru, let him get used to u and the new environment as ck said..hedgie is solitairy animal..they don like people disturb them too much..esp when they are sleepiing...

@soulslayer, i posted my cage pics b4.. in case u cant find..i post again. Bout the fleece i add on bit, it's one of the safe fabric that normally use on animal...Becoz it's breathable, soft, and their nail wont get stuck on it.. biggrin.gif You can find it at almost all supermarket blanket department..

This is the zoozone1, basically not much changes, but now i replace the living dome with another square cube house.. then added some toys. I would encourage people go for bigger cage such as zoozone 2, i wish i could change it..but my rooom got not extra space to put.. T-T

Soulslayer,

I put my wheel inside at night, then take it out morning to wash and sun dry..

Mealies
- Story in Dark Place
- Did u poke hole on the container for them to breath?
- Did u feed them? I use rolled oats as bedding, then feed vege/fruits every alternate day.
- Did u let the mealies get in touch with water? Mealies die when get in contact with water. So whatever fruits/vege u give u must make sure it's dry... Don give those watery fruits like wtermelon...

ops..i am sorry..my fault... typing error...hahaha..early morning my mind haven really functioning yet.. tongue.gif

Mealies can absorb moisture from vege and fruits...so u don hav to give them water... u can give those not watery fruits such as pear, apple and etc. I wipe all the fruits and vege with dry tissue b4 i serve to mealies, to ensure there is not water left.

Showering once a week? would it be too much?

Some hedgie will get stress if u shower them too often..

If your hedgie keep poo green poo poo after shower or when u towel dry it, this could mean he is in stress condition.

I think twice a month is jus nice.

Shampoo... I knew some people use Johnson&johnson... i am using EarthBath Oat Shampoo (for animal not human), slightly pricey but it's good in preventing dry skin. And it smells good as well~

they dun really like water
they pretty good at grooming themselves
i shower them a lot cos i scared of mites
n they r ok with it, so no issues for me....
i dun use fleece like u do, probably that's y it's harder to clean....
wood shaving will be harder to keep, msut clean always..
else can be infected by mites...
*
ops...forgot u using wood shaving...yalor..i also don like wood shaving.. tat's y use fleece... luckily the fellow know how to go the litter tray to poo...
