Humprey looks more like Algerian brown snowflake to me. Due to his cheek color, his ears.. thats wad i see from my research. lol..
n yet again... im suspecting my Echt is not an albino as his quill aint white, but pale cream.

hehe.. yaya.. i know. but things are i found that his quills are actually banded, which might fall into the pale apricot type.
albino quills are not banded. =)

n FYI, our domesticated hegehog are africans type. Algerian is a color which falls under the African-pygmy hedgehog. The European hedgehog, which is larger than the african type, are wild n banned (illegal) to keep.

hahaha.... u wan a hedgehog zoo?? cute loh~~

yaya.. from the research i did, 99% of our hedgehogs are African.
some are long-ears, huge ears, ears like mousie..
N then this African hedgehogs are split into several color groups - Algerian, White-bellied, Snowflake, Pinto, Albino.

I found 1 species of hedgehog, which falls under the European species have no more than 10 quills, looks so ugly n weird.
The European species are rather different looking, some even look like poccupine-shape, wild but facing danger of extinction d.
European types appear to be darker in color, can obviously see from the underbelly n face.

Hope this info might help abit. Coz i was rather confuse about african n european n the wadever algerian, so did some sort of research.

I love the cinnicot color. looks very cute.

kelvin.. i love ur Humprey~ so cute that i cant help starring at his pictures in ur flickr. LOL!!! chubby chubby ball!
I wanna carry him n steal him away!

altho i did the research.. im still not very sure how to decide the colors.
but most Algerian colors have colored cheeks, n the belly there slightly colored (not purely white).
can see from ur Humprey that he got the brownish cheeks. 50/50 banded white n brownish cream quills > snowflake for sure... his ear is brownish dark or maybe gray... from these elements, Humprey could be Algerian snowflake. Algerian choco snowflake...Algerian brown snowflake... algerian gray snowflake... not sure. It still depends on the exact ear color, face mask, the cheeks, n importantly the underbelly part whether it's mottled or not.
Need more expert ppl to confirm on this, n to really really confirm it, maybe picture is not enuf.. need see the rl thing. coz color may vary from picture.
n oh yea, I can confirm Sir Humprey is African-pygmy yeah~! He's not European. LOL.

Haha.. U mean the quills of the hoglets? I think they r very soft at births then develop into more stronger ones, so shudnt hurt when momma give birth..
