Chinchillas, he is my newbie Jasper. He growth very fast and he eat a lots like pallet, veg, hays, carrot.
He is super active maybe still young as Dr. Jenny told me he is ard 2 mths. Actually my plan was buying same gental for Jingle (Female) as a partner because i do not want them breeds as there are risk, but when i saw Jasper in Pet Safari, i can't stop myself to buying him as he is so cute.
Dr.Jenny promise to help me on this whether if i need to neuter but it can only be done aft 8 mths old and i'm still in consider regarding. I don't feel to hurt him but i'm not sure whether do i have others option or not? cry.gif

Hi Carol, he definately will feel 'hurt' on you cutting his 'precious' away laugh.gif . Further more neuter is not 100% gurantee success. You have 50% chance lose him. Your other option is : invest another cage, let him stay alone or with his same sex. Personally, I always against neuter, neuter is for owner to make themself easy to put few difference sex together, to make owner feel happy, not the animal. Some people will begin educated, believe, thinking neuter will reduce the risk of the animal getting some disease/cancel. shakehead.gif

Sharing some photos of both Jasper & Jingle (JJ) during their playing time.

Both of them still under observation as just intro both of them few days ago after Jasper finish the treatment for his lice. I still separate them to different cage but place the cages next to each other. Playing time will be on everyday at least half an hour whereby both of them meet each other in their playground with observation. Planning to put them together after 2-3 weeks time if they have no problem.

Those picture are taken when they take some rest in the playground. tongue.gif

Yeah, i agreed wt you Chinchillas of neuter them is hurting them but not only on physically but also mentally, i think i will put them together and allowing nature to take its course and if Jingle get pregnant, i will try my best to give what ever i can and do bring her to vet often.

I think this is what can i do. I have some many experts here and i think it could not be any problem.

btw, i will buy Alfafa from you aft they finished and need some sample of timothy as they dont really like the current brand of timothy. i'm not sure whether they do not use to timothy hay because they never take it b4 or what. I will try your brand for them.

Now days i just mix both hay together for them so that they could not pick.

Even Jingle she dont like veg but now i mixed it together with hays and she have no choice. tongue.gif

yeah...it is solid but not measure by the weight of the pack. It is measured by its absorption.

Added on November 7, 2008, 10:36 amI was thinking to buy a carrier for Jingle & Jasper so that it is more easier for me to bring them to vets and so on. Pls advice me what is the suitable carrier for guinea pig and where can i get it?

Thank you.

Beside you allowed the nature take place, meantime is good for you to study what GP will face when they get pregnant, after pregnancy and re-pregnant.

About the hay, what brand of timothy hay you feeding that their dont want to eat? When you bough hay in any place, look for the fresh, green, great smelling hay(pick up and smell). If green, and great smelling, sure they will start to eat and slowly build up a habit to eat timothy hay smile.gif . No matter in what stage, your GP will be encourage and advice to feed timothy hay as a part of main diet. Alfalfa hay, for now, yes, feed as they need for growing. Alfalfa hay have higher content of protein and calcium in the most balance ratio. In later day you will need to slide back on alfalfa, increase your timothy hay feed. Further more you will also feeding some fresh fruit/vege to maintain their Vit c intake. Do you use any chewable Vit C for your GP yet? You can browse through the front page create by the member, they provide valueble information for you to study. flex.gif

Enjoy owning a GP! laugh.gif

Actually I just use a small hamster cage. They're not going traveling with me. Traveling is stressful. They go to a trip to the vet and then instantly back. Something narrow will make them feel more safe.

So you can just use the normal plastic container or use a hamster cage. But only for transporting purposes. The cage your piggies live in have to be much bigger and wider.
