Don't buy animal that already infected with skin problem or sick, you should not rush and buy that GP. It speak that toby pet safari hygenine is very very poor. Your money should pay for a healthy, clean GP, shop around others shop, there is always GP around.

o... Is good you have not buy. By the way, limie is put up a "EXCHANGE" trade with those who can trade his/her GP with some hay, you may consider that. I think limie hv lot of GP experience you can learn from if you trade with her and i think limie gp would not look as weak as what the photos you took from Pet safari.

Hello everyone,

I just got my piggies yesterday (Tutu and Pinky), from Pets Wonderland MidValley... Attached is their cute picture enjoying Oxbow Alfafa and Gerty. smile.gif

I have some questions to experts here:

1) Around how old are my piggies, (length~10cm) because Pets Wonderland personnel told me that they are 3 months old!
2) I noticed some dark speckles on their fur (not moving), what could that be and what should i do?
3) Yesterday, their poo was a lot but today, just a little only (<10 drops) and they consumed plenty of water (should i send to vet for checkup or its normal during 2nd day although they consume a lot?)

Their food: Hagen GP pellets, Oxbow alfafa, Gerty GP food, fresh carrot, capsicum, siew pak choy (Both piggies are picky in alfafa, just eat the leaves only without the stems)

Thanks

Thanks!! the yellow one is 5-6month while the white color is around 3 month like that as the petshops people told me...

ohhh....thanks for your remind rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif
actually now im just giving them timothy hays...thinking of buying them some alfafa hays these weekend.

but actually which kinda hay is better for them? because i go online some say mixed alfafa with timothy and some say with oat grass...alot of variety...kinda confused, and some even got homegrass? blink.gif
*
If your GP is only 5-6 months old, you can continue to feed mix of 50/50 alfalfa hay and timothy hay, till your gp about 10 months old, from there you reduce the amount of alfalfa hay and slide toward 90% timothy hay and 10% alfalfa daily.

For the oat grass and others variety of grass actually is for VARIETY, is to encourage your GP to eat more hay for helping them to have good disgestive system and keep their teeth in good shape. Selecting hay don't go by brand, go by smell, freshness and quality. Pellet need to go by brand. Take up the hay on the rack and compare with few others brand available in the shop you visit, then you can easily see which one is OK at that moment, and pick up to smell, fresh, good hay smell really good, of cause this need to practise many time for you to catch the ideal what is fresh, green hay.

Some people believe(Local people) they can feed their backyard/frontyard grass to the GP as long as their GP wont die, their will continue to do it. I don't find that is proper way of feeding, and I just not agreed with feeding such thing to ward your PET. PET meant to be sayang.

GP is design to eat high fiber food, proper diet pellet plus moderate amount of Vit C daily to maintain their daily need.

I just bought the toilet for my Jingle and now train her to pee and poo on it by putting some of the used and wet (wt pee&poo)bedding in the toilet.

Hope that she will not disappointed me lah..... tongue.gif and will learn how to use the toilet asap.

I was thinking to change another brand of hay for Jingle and Jasper because the brand that i bought is not fresh. Previously i was feeding them Alfafa hay and i will buy a timothy hay tomorrow and try to mixed 50/50 for both of them since both of them are less then 10 mths.

p/s:Hi Chinchillas, do you sell mixed of both Alfafa and Timothy hay for each 1kg? I would like to buy 1kg for each of the hay to let them have a try 1st. Pls PM me the best price.  Thank you. smile.gif
*
Good to hear you just a beginner and you learn how to discern the hay already, do more experience and study, you will know what hay in the best for you and your pet.

I have pm you the details regarding your request. : blush.gif

if my guinea pig is taking too much calcium rich food wat should i feed it? its been peeing whitish pee....any veges low in calcium content?
*
Feed hay, hay have the most balance of Cal: Pho ratio. Either is timothy or alfalfa. Stop feeding alfalfa if you do. Vegetables should given moderate not overload. smile.gif Too much calcium with lead to calcium deficiency, too little phosphorous will lead to problem absorb calcium, too little vit C will lead to fatal. nod.gif

Do you use any bedding now? Used bedding of your GP is the best to teach you GP to toilet train. you can even find a big flat pail, scoop the pee bedding mix with new bedding, put into the flat pail, soon you will see your GP love to pee on that area. smile.gif
