Wira 1.5 GLi (Auto)? Best option is to change to a manual 5 speed transmission. The current 3 speed auto will make your engine drain petrol as if you just finished playing sports.

Nowadays most proton cars full tank can get only about 350km - 400km max. If a person gets more about 450km, maybe he pumped max inside the tank.

I don't and get about 350km - 380km. Oh yea, 120km/h - 140km/h most of the time on highway.

Not only I'm facing the same problem. My friend's proton also facing the same problem. Drive slow (80km/h) or fast (140km/h), fuel consumption is still the same. Also get around 350km+.

Might as well just drive fast everyday and feel the ummphhh and save time.

1300cc and 1500cc.

I'm not agree !!!

i'm driving 7yrs old 1.5 (auto) wira & full tank manage to go for 470km (max km i dare to try).
Every mth fr. KL to south (440km) with Ave. speed 110-120kmh ........., 80% h/way + 20% normal road. Normally, it takes almost 37L petrol.

my wira is standard from day 1.

1. Your personal comment (your thought or anything related):
my gf use wira 1.5GL(A)..yeap evrytime we go out for dating..i'll try to avoid using tht car..if can i'll use my mom's myvi. GL version is carb one..plus with 3speed auto..the fc kinda bad. for speed around 90-100km/h..the rpm is kinda high.

2. Your tips on how to get the most from Proton Wira 1.5 GL (A) (if the owners considering to continue to use it in the future):
by driving tht car..i learn how to drive maximum 70km/h..hahaha...i think 1.5gLi should be better..a bit..(injection engine).

p.s - get the manual version ok. rclxms.gif

p.s.s - Thank you for your effort to fill this time-consuming survey:)

Added on July 5, 2008, 10:43 pmnway..the car is quite old..and the gearbox is not really tiptop..so i guess it contribute more on high fc...so, my opinion is only based on tht particular wira 1.5(a)..huhuhu~

if u guys travel frequently on highways, i'd recommend keeping limit at 110km/h, fuel consumption quite ok..

base on my xp, RM100 can bring me somewhere around 520km with my WIRA 1.5(m), normal consumption during normal usage (not highway) would be 470km for RM100.. plus minus of course..

woww ... this kind an old topic ...

but i'm still driving the same P/Wira ....
recent FC still almost 12km/L .... normal traffic + jam everyday at federal h/way from subang jaya to PJ.

minor changes ..... exhaust change to 4-2-1 & using slightly bigger spark plug cable. Feel more responsive.

You guys are all lucky! My '97 1.5GL A only gives an average of 7km/l. RM50 for only 190km!! Avg speed 90km/h.
Old car, but the acceleration is still surprisingly good.

You guy's cars seriously have bad fuel consumption. Is the car serviced regularly? Engine oil, oil filter, spark plugs, atf?

I'm also facing a similar problem. My fuel consumption has gone up for my Wira 1.5A. Used to average about 350km per full tank 5 years ago. Now, its about 260km per tank, since the last 2 years.
I just changed my auto transmission last mid year but no change in the fuel consumption.
Read somewhere a leaking exhaust system would reduce compression & make the engine makan minyak.
Any advice on who has this kind of experience in Penang?

The car is nice to drive but due to the high fuel consumption, I'll have to sell if off. geram.
Nowadays cannot get good part anymore either. Used to be able to get recon mitsubishi parts which can really last but now only recon proton parts which aren't very durable.
