PM him la...

A fellow forumer is planning to sell his brand new unit of Samsung BD-P1500 for around RM1000. It is from Singapore. PM me if you're interested and I'll pass the message along.

I was in Singapore early this week. The Samsung BDP was sold at S$500 (about RM1,200) at the Changi airport. And I believe it will be much cheaper in downtown. Why are prices in Malaysia still not adjusted (downwards) accordingly like plasma and LCD TVs?

I think the push for Full HD TVs needs to go hand-in-hand with BD players. Otherwise, consumers will see little sense to buy such TVs. And to promote HD, it is compelling to see the rental of such discs. Blu-ray movies are still expensive and pirated BDs, if and when available, may not give the desired results when it comes to the true definition of HD.

For the forseeable future, I believe majority of the rakyat will be contented with HD-ready TVs.

I do use original blurays. Some I buy new, some I buy 2nd hand, some I rent.
BD movies for rental? My neigbourhood video shop (Video Esy) has a wide range of original DVD movies for rental but only BD movies for sale.

Anyone know of of a video shop with original BD movies for rental? A sub-RM1,300 BD player is very tempting and I believe it will be less than RM1,000 by year-end.

BD players, even at sub-RM500, wont go mainstream if the discs remain expensive. Someone should start BD movie rental like my neigbourhood Video Ezy with ori DVD rental - good image and sound quality.
