robin,
you should try on bd to enjoy the full benefits of hd.but i will get ahem version dvd should the title still not available in blu ray format also i think bd is still expensive so i prefer to rent only.
i don't think it would be problem to used dvd on blu ray player.
lens is to read only unless it got scratch then different story laa.
i got those avr pioneer lx 60 at very special price rm3.7 (one time offer only coz kindda take it or leave it)
well robin, i got so many things to upgrade in my mind.....kuro, kef iq series with velodyne sub and sonus faber speaker for my hifi.

you can pm me for the detail of my new snake pit...
*
well, my library is full of those ahem dvds
so most of the time i'll be watching dvds compare to bds which i have only a few
anyway, thanks for ur info, bro smile.gif

wah, special price for lx60 somemore
mind to tell me which shop did u buy from? gonna make it as my next visit when i wanna upgrade my avr laugh.gif

hi, Have a question here..I have a pioneer bdp51 and it is a region A set (malaysia). I just got a uk version National treasure 2 which is version B (as stated on box and disk) and it runs smoothly on my player!!! Is it an error on the BD? or does my player play region B too?...I hope it is the later..Thanks

glau...that is because national treasure 2 UK release is region free...

i have seen many european release that indicates B on the package and disc when in reality they're region free....same goes with those region A release.

think the difficulty with region B releases is that even if its the same title..and depends on where it is released, it can be locked or it can be region free. eg. German release Nat'l treasure 2 is region locked.

Go here to check for region B coding info. Click on other tabs for other regions.

http://bluray.liesinc.net/index.php?region=b

BTW, those new players look like the upgrade is more to downloading online content and better designs. rclxms.gif

wah.. the pioneer with 48-bit deep colour!

the aquos BD series look very trick.. no messy cable, direct to the tv! but enthusiasts with receiver might still want to have a standalone bd player.. unless the tv has an audio/hdmi output smile.gif

i sense that by end of 2009, BD players price will start to come down!
