It was 28 June 2008 (Saturday) , coolice came to my house after we did some serious planning. We are going to test the Biostar  TPower I45 under ln2 cooling. Our objective is sub 8s in super pi 1M brows.gif

Cut the craps, let's start the story laugh.gif

like most of the oc sessions , it begins with insulation. Preparation done by coolice

ok done. That's why coolice is so relax and meditating there. tongue.gif

CPU: C2D E8400
Motherboard: Biostar TPower I45
Ram: Crucial balistix 8500
PSU: Gigabyte Odin Pro 800W
HDD: Raptor WD740GD

Let's start! Can't wait to pour the ln2  laugh.gif
Attached Image
smoking...
Attached Image
we try to find out the cold bug of the processor at the beginning, it was around -115C
Attached Image

Let's do some exercises first , wprime 1024M at 660fsbx6  tongue.gif
too bad, coolice did super pi 4M test as well on 660fsbx6 but the screenshot has gone due to the OS crashed.
Attached Image
Vcore 1.72v, everything seems good
Attached Image

later on, try to push the clockspeed. 5.899GHz achieved!
CPU-Z Link: http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=382687
Not hard push though, as you can see we are still using dual channel ram.

For Super Pi 1M, best hit 8.156s ,
Attached Image

Actually we have better achievement. It was 8.094s but we failed to take down screenshot on the spot.  cry.gif

sub 8s , so close yet so far away.  sad.gif
Never mind, it was great try after all  thumbup.gif

Lastly, thanks to Biostar for the motherboard, also thanks to penapis for the dewar and ln2  notworthy.gif

laugh.gif sounds like your shocked.. 127% oc is relatively if you can bench an e2140 to 3.6Ghz. A little help with nitrogen does help, but the time will come where u can run this as a normal setup..

Everything will rosak if we force to push the limit to extreme/maximum.Just like an example given above "well, try running a proton at 340kmh.. u will find the car dead with a day"
If you push the limit, and the board cant take it,definitely it will rosak.Becos u are forcing it.

has anyone actual gamer use Liquid Nitrogen daily (for the really extreme hardcore ones...) and then
overclock their machines close to 5Ghz/highest possible stable processor speed ?

I mean, the point of using LN2 is to simply see how far you can push the clock speed. But there isn't really much use... but that's part of the fun I know.

Imagine playing Crysis at 2560x1600 4x FSAA 16x AF Very High DX10 in Vista at steady speeds sweat.gif

has anyone actual gamer use Liquid Nitrogen daily (for the really extreme hardcore ones...) and then
overclock their machines close to 5Ghz/highest possible stable processor speed ?

I mean, the point of using LN2 is to simply see how far you can push the clock speed. But there isn't really much use... but that's part of the fun I know.

Imagine playing Crysis at 2560x1600 4x FSAA 16x AF Very High DX10 in Vista at steady speeds  sweat.gif

It is pointless for a gamer to that and as Icemocha point out,gpu is the bottleneck, not cpu at that kind of res sweat.gif

for gaming the bottleneck would be at the graphic card not the cpu dude..

I guess that is not really the case anymore.
Try ask coolice if the bottlenecks are now on the proc or on the Graphic cards?
But it very much depends on how the games utilise the power from both lar.

I've heard of QX9650@4.0Ghz bottlenecking 2 Vmodded 3870 CFed.

Anyway, congratulations on the world records guys.
Hope to be there some day when u guys break another record... tongue.gif

Well,that is benchmarking laugh.gif
In real world gaming, the bottleneck is unnoticeable after 4ghz tongue.gif
