I wonder if there is anything to boost direct download speed

Gosh, your house must be full of DVD's then
I used to do that too till my mum complained.
Decided enough was enough and got myself a HDD instead

Anybody knows how to increase speed for direct downloads ?

By the way, I am using Firefox built-in dl manager.
I happen to come across this setting where we can add 1 chunk or less 1 chunk.
I didn't what was it so played with it by clicking add 1 chunk.
My speed improved !
I kept pressing it after that, now my speed is damn fast

Just keep increasing the chunks, it will get faster to a certain extent
