it's really streamyx problem, and it's not limited to rapidshare and megaupload alone
i use direct download for animes from those fansubs server, also limited to 20++kBps speed
but then if i use irc direct download, no such problem
so i suspect they are throttling the port 80 direct download or something

speed limit is still there for me

how fast is ur speed?
512kbps package usually can get max speed bout 60kB/s
and from there, it will take bout 30 min per 100mb file

there's official rapidshare reseller here in malaysia
bank transfer over the internet is safe as u have full control, unless ppl is having a keylogger on ur pc or something

ur speed is like 512 streamyx package only
depending on area, a lot of ppl can get 170-200 for streamyx 1mb package

u got files inside it ur acc mer?
if not getting a new 1 is not really a hassle right no matter u renew or not?

just type in "stuff name" + rapidshare on google

is tat 1.5mb in megabits or megabytes?
kinda slow if 1.5megabits for a education institution
my uni can get 1.5 megabytes/s at least, sometimes 3 megabytes/s
1 day quota can finish in 1 hour+....

proxy might be possible, try the freegate software

go to mmu, wired to most network ports can get 1.3MBytes/s, while wireless about 1.0MBytes/s++
sometimes can get 3.0Mbytes/s also....
10GBytes per day quota can finish within 1-2 hours....
and since they started charging for internet this year, it's only 100 per year for in campus student, 75 for those staying off campus

in his case here, it's 50kBytes/s, not 50Kbits/s la
basically nearly streamyx 512 package
you ppl tends to confuse the bytes and bits, due to most ppl being lazy to follow the actual naming convention
theoretically, he should achieve around 128kBytes/s, though most ppl have no problem getting 170kBytes/s ++ on 1 MB package

hmmm, vincent, have you tried using proxy?like the freegate?
if the speed is still the same, probably streamyx doing some "upgrading" work at your place

freegate works just like any proxy
there's a possibility tat streamyx is blocking or at least limitng traffic from rapidshare
by using a proxy, streamyx's server see your information as originating from the proxy server and hence might not limit the speed, although your are actually downloading from rapidshare, just tat your traffic goes thru the proxy first
guide to freegate are available a few pages back, use the search function

i use freedownloadmanager, another similar program, and usually i only run 1 or 2, but total download speed is 60kBps++, the usual speed tat most 512kbps users here get.
when i go to my uni, i open 15 downloads at a time, and at good time, i can get speeds like 4.4MBytes/s, slowest also 1.5MBytes/s
