QUOTE(ooj @ Jul 2 2008, 04:01 PM) In the US, it's been shown that the videogames industry is recession proof. People still buy games as a relatively cheap form of entertainment. However, for them the game prices are cheap when you consider their spending power compared with ours. And they have a lot of sources for 2nd hand games and game rentals such as Gamefly and Gamestop. Our market is still young with a lot of room to grow. agreed just take a example at my place...(SRWK) blu-ray game just cost bout RM290.. thats 100 more than what i know.. and more worst no such as rental or second hand game.. and thanks for this site.. just order it from shop dealer plus shipping cost and u save RM90... |

For me, the economic slowdown won't prevent me from buying my favourite games but of course, I'll be more selective, I'll buy games which have good replay value.

a hundred something for new one...look at playasia as a guide...usually sellers will use that range plus minus.

For me, buying less games isn't because of the economic slowdown directly... It's basically because of the economic slowdown, I can't afford to upgrade my PC to play the current games... therefore I've stopped buying (and playing) a lot of games... another reason for buying less games is because of the economic slowdown, the bosses are working me to death to keep my job and therefore, I don't really have a lot of time to play games... yea, so more or less... because of the economic slowdown, I'm buying less games.

Yeah, economic slowdown, more expenses (especially with a family) so my gaming habits are slowing down as well. First game I bought in 4 months is Battlefield BC. I don't mind it, at least gives me some room to breathe till the next killer game comes up.

The great thing about games nowwa days is multiplay. i.e GTA 4 you may have finished the game but because u can link up with your friends and play its has longer lasting appeal.
As to the topic I feel that I am now more selective to the titles I wish to purchase and dont be too excited and be driven by impulse. |
