hey all...i'm lookin at getting a hd monitor for console gaming away from the living room...any recommendations??

Well, budget dictates your choice. So you better let us know your budget first.

For those budget conscious ppl, best bang for buck is still a 22" which doubles as a PC monitor.

if do not have budget i think 19" wide is the best...
the spec of 19" wide is jus nice with the one that Xbox have... (If not mistaken...)

well ok a samsung 32" 1080p lcd tv will burn me abt...3.5k? i forgot the price but anyways...maybe looking at somewhere close to 2k or so...

HHmm.. as far as i can remember, you wont be able to see the difference between 1080p and 1080i if your screen is 37" or below. That is because the screen is too small

If you are getting 32", i dont think you should waste it on 1080p or 100mhz...

A good 32" 1080i LCD is approx 2k only. Enter a shop, close your eyes and point

P/S If you do not know this, many manufacturers have similar lcds from same manufacturer, just different casing.

19" wide monitor... the native resolution is same as the xbox's 720i resolution...
then you can use ur CPU and also Xbox also...

Samsung 32" Series 5 is Full HD - 1080p

I saw the Samsung 32" Series-6 1080p for RM4499. Might as well just get a 720p 40" lcdtv.

I believe Series 5 is cheaper at RM 3.8k

Get a Philips 37PFL7422,

glorious 37" at full 1080p, and the price is really really amazing.

Its like RM3,000 and less I think right now...

Well, if you plan to upgrade to LCD TV in future like me, just get either 19 or 22. There's no point going to the high-end 24" if you plan to replace in 2 or 3 years. I'm telling you that playing on LCD TV is much much more satisfying that using monitor. Colors and contrast are a better than the monitor.

Maybe 'cause I'm using 22"...

i use 1360 x (i forget already) resolution...something like that..try your best resolution for your eye...

well this is ridiculously stupid i just realized the monitor has only one vga port (duh) so i'm thinkin...is there a hub where you can plug in the xbox and the pc and switch them? (pretty handy if the xbox is plugged into my office pc and i can just switch back when the boss comes in )

grouchy_smurf: There is.....dude if your looking into a LCD then most of it has dual inputs 1 for the typical VGA cables the other DVI input. If both inputs are VGA then just buy a converter and use both available ports. Would save a pretty penny on that. Plus switching is just a touch of a button on the LCD Monitor.

I use IO-data... bought it from japan... it claims that all testing was done with a 360 for gaming.... so far it looks excellent...

lknow any particular model with fast mode switching (eg. vga and dvi switching) with good response time?

Samsung 226BW seems to be a good choice if you're talking about vga/dvi switching. 2ms response time and 3000:1 dynamic contrast.

I am using 225BW but i assume 226BW has a dedicated switch button as well.

and it cost slightly above RM900 with 3 years warranty. It is a shame it doesn't have HDMI. then again, with hdmi, the cost will spiral up more

hdmi is just fancy for cutting down the # of cables and... i guess nothing much really. it's pin to pin compatible with DVI that's gonna be cool if i need to use hdmi with the samsung

I'm looking for a FULL HD 24-26" LCD Monitor. Budget around RM1500-RM2000.

FULL HD is a must as I'm using it as a monitor not some Theatre TV.

Can someone give us some option, like Samsung, BenQ & Dell. Can't find much info and price in Lowyat. Would be highly appreciated as I'm holding my PS3 purchase because I can't find the right monitor for it.

Benq G2400W or V2400W.. you can find these two in M'sia.. I bought my G2400W in Sg for around RM1690..

just check out this thread and look at the feedbacks.. http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1237718 , they convinced me to buy it.. I was originally wanted Dell Ultrasharp W2408WFP but ended up with that. Stay away from Samsung 2493HM it has a major problem with scaling issues.

from my opinion, from my eyes and how I feel, Benq G2400W on PS3 is one of the best out there. I run my xbox360 thru vga.. but.. I will get another xbox360 with hdmi port soon.

How much is V2400W is it better than G2400W? All i know it has more ports.
