I will never blame the father in this situation and I would have done the exact same thing in his place. Giving in just because he is throwing a tantrum is sending a very wrong message to the boy. We are indirectly telling him that he will eventually get what he wants as long as he throws a tantrum.
When I was a kid, my mom will bring out the cane and my dad will kick me if I throw a tantrum. Needless to say, I got enough kicks when I was a kid to last me a lifetime.
I have cousins who always throw a tantrum and my aunts will give in. The end result, really naughty and indiscipline with no respect for elders. I really want to slap them each time they throw a tantrum. To them, it is a tool to get what they want and they know it work as long as they do it enough time.

True.. the moment the parents touch a single hair on their hands they'll call up some anti-parent-whopping-their-children agency, and the parents kena whooped back lol. I love their system
*Child Protection Services* that's what they call em... by the gods I'd hate to see what Malaysia would be like if the government suddenly implemented something like that lol.

my parents did it to me when i was a kid as well. they would hide my micro genius and i cant play duck hunt. it is like torture.
it didnt drive me suicidal though. all i did was i threaten them with things like "you give me back my micro genius or when i grow up, im gonna be a singer!" and that scares them more than anything.

i kidda like the opposite, asking my parent to hide my snes and ps1 last time, just to prevent me from playing too long and neglect study:sweat:
