Actually I heard from a persn (he himself also considered a supplire la) that there is only a handful of suppliers providing small animals to petshops. The ones that are not from suppliers are hobbyist and those hamsters only come in small amounts.

So if you got 2 hamsters that are about the same age, there's a big possibility that they are siblings or similarly related. Safer to buy 2 of a different age and a different place.

@Mike: This kinda thing is happening to petshops all over the place... And it reinforces the fact that syrians ARE solitary and just because we don't see them fight in petshops doesn't mean they don't.

Patience, YES, definitely! I finally make a miracle in my life, both my robos RUSH to reach my palm and search for mealies DESPERATELY every night, muaaahahaaahaaa!     

I've been spending at least 1, to 4 hours every night, for three whole week to feed them food and to touch them sometimes.

It's time for me to dominant another breed. Syrians!

this particular hamster, she rejected her babies twice ady.. that's a total of 8 pups dead.. she should be a naturally bad mum cos she will sleep beside the pups but will not let them go under her
this is really an eye opener for me.. i wont breed her again.. poor babies

erm...sorry to pop up at this time...still a newbie learning to keep my robo well....i juz wonder if my robo suddenly scratch the water bowl (the mushrom water bowl fr habitrail) and continously kicking away all nearby bedding...does tat indicate anything? he also have very small squeking sound...i wonder if he feels ok? any ideas?

@Sophie: Take our the water bottle and also the dry food. Your hamster will eat. Your hammies just need time to get used to it. My syrians now don't take water at all since I started feeding them smoothie.

And my syrians are famous for their smoothie dipping antics.

Smoothie is a must have and sure love for all hamsters la.

I bought it from Pet Shack. Initially bought for them to drink to reduce the pee smell, now they are not drinking anymore with eating smoothie, so use it to spray on smelly places.       I think most of the pet shops have it, it's use for all pets if I'm not mistaken. Try look at the dogs section if you can't find it.

Err... ok , its skin also smelly, cos the smell not only at their fur but if you touch their skin, your finger also will be smelly. Kuaci will cause them smelly? This I don't know. I only know if they eat yogurt, their pee will be very smelly. 

You can leave them for 4 days by providing enough food and water for them. Do not give fresh food as it will get rotten after a day and it can attract ants and grow bacterias and it is bad for your hamsters. If can then clean their cage before you leave, so that they won't get smelly when you come back. Make sure the cover or lid is closed and safe to avoid them from escape.

Yes, only dry food. Can't help for squeak. You not around to hear anyway.

Then you also can spray Oxyfresh after she gave birth la. Can't disturb her and the pups.

all my hammy must carry them everyday, for 20 minutes also can. if not they will give me the pity look

its ok to feed hammy with meal worms la... its to provide some extra protein.
but if u been feeding ur hammie with Uncle Taro Nutri-Smoothie, theres no need to worry about introducing ur hammie with meal worms. Because Uncle Taro Nutri-Smootie have everything needed for hammie including protein
