hi y'all...i am a veteran newbie (40+). played once about 2 weeks ago and probably gonna get stuck with dis painball thingy for a while.

dis my first post and apologize if any mistakes.

i am planning to purchase some gear and urgently in need of advice from you o my young masters. my target purchase for next month will be

1. Sly Profit 2010 mask
2. Planet Eclipse 2010 Distortion Jersey
3. 2010 Valken Fate Paintball Pants

Attached Image

Question 1 : Based on your knowledge and experience, should I be paying more than RM900 for these combined?

Will aim to buy own marker in December......

Question 2 : Should I be paying RM900 for Azodin Kaos marker (c/w tank and loader...basic probably)?

I know proobably some of you guys won't give straight answers but really appreciate if you all can give useful ballpark figures for the combo.

thanks

rm900 for all that...? doubt it if on a brand new one.. used item maybe...
better yet, wait till world cup asia this 25th ~ 28th nov, in padang merbok.. things are selling quite cheap during that time...
*
thanks badman! so, i take it that RM900 for new is acceptable (a bargain?) then. drool.gif

yes i suppose waiting for the sale during world cup asia would be the smarter choice. icon_idea.gif

thanks again.

yeah.. this is the time u see lotsa used stuff in the forum but not really moving -both seller & buyer waiting for wca sales...  tongue.gif
used items will start to move again around end of the year or early next year as ppl wanna cover back what they spent during wca... hehehe
*
thanks badman. yumm...yumm! all this waiting is going to 'kill' me.... sweat.gif

More questions to all other otais :

1) anybody out there who's regularly playing in Sungai Petani (Cinta Sayang/ Carnivall)?
2) is there any age category during any local tourneys, say for example for guys over 40 or is it just D1 to D4 and so on? flex.gif
3) Invert Too Hopper - any user comments/opinions in terms of pricing, ease of maintenance, reliability, durability and what to look out for? icon_question.gif

yo bro putrakorn!
thanks for the invite mate! yes i would love to try woodsball someday. icon_rolleyes.gif
have to get my gear sorted out first. designated myself as a guinea pig and ordered some of the stuff online. will post once i receive them. don't think will get that much saving though considering the 'monster' shipping cost. probably will cost the same in the end when compared to buying them locally. blush.gif
will PM you soon.....if i have the guts that is...

PESTA CONVO UUM - PAINTBALL TOURNAMENT

went to see my first live tournament today. man was i pumped up!
it rained a bit in the morning and then it was cloudy till afternoon. reached the venue at about 10:30 or 11 am.
the field condition looked excellent, very flat, almost no bumps or 'holes'.
it is so good to see beginners and old timers having a go at each other. i was surprised to see that sometimes the teams that seemed inexperienced (without any fancy gear, just jeans and t-shirts) can give the more experienced team a run for their money. the camaraderie amongst the competing team is amazing. young, old, boys and girls united regardless of skin colour or race, no divide. paintball rocks! rclxm9.gif

i left the venue at about 2:00 after watching a breathtaking exibition game between Team Scarecrow and ....ooops i forgot the other team's name. i gave my old trusty fujifilm 4 megapixel digital camera to my daughter to shoot some photos. below is one them.
Attached Image

on the way back home i dropped by Carnivall SP to see the paintball field. i thought the ground was pretty uneven and the rate was so so. could be cheaper. the bro running the shop was very friendly though.

then i went to Lagenda Heights to a have a look see at the outdoor shop where they have this little section selling paintball stuff. the apparels seems competitively priced. depends on how you nego la. not many markers available. only saw azodin kaos. the shop is the same row as the eletrical appliances shops just beside where the 24hr convenience store DELIMA used to be. they also sell hiking and scuba diving gear.

i promised to update my online purchase status..so here goes...
received my package yesterday by fedex. took them about 7~8 days to deliver after the purchase transaction was confirmed. there was some minor hiccup since i did not receive the order verification email initially but it was sorted out after i used the livechat function.

everything was in order. i ordered 5 items in all. mask, jersey, pants, e-hopper and gloves (M is wee bit too snug for me). seems like the parcel/box was not opened by the customs (could not detect any cut on the sealing tape hmm.gif ). probably they just x-rayed the box maybe? i dunno. so. all in all i don't think there is a significant amount of saving if we order stuff online...100~200 ringgit savings maybe? yep thats about it after you consider the freight cost. if the online shop offers more than 50% discount from the list price then maybe you guys can consider to purchase online. not recommended for functional (with moving parts/components) stuff since you need the warranty.

you'd be better off haggling the price with the local proshops. this way you get to touch and feel the stuff that you plan to buy. hope my experience helps. wink.gif

next, i would like to look into getting my hands on a mech marker, kaos maybe? but i am in love with the mini cry.gif they don't have mech minis do they?

yo bro subsonique icon_rolleyes.gif

seriously? maaannn......mask need to go thru SIRIM? rclxub.gif yes, i understand the feeling of going thru all the hassles. sad.gif i surely won't order any larger packages in the future.

but you know, some people will probably keep ordering online if the price difference is too big (profit margin too big?). take for example the markers. the online discounted price is quite low. and if you buy it stateside that includes warranty and after sales support.

anyway, almost all the 'branded' stuff such as jersey, mask, pants and gloves that i bought (from the US of A) were made in china. i'm not saying that china made products tend to have quality problems, but you know.....it's just that feeling of "waaa...made in china oso so expensive ah?"dunno...maybe i'm wrong, maybe the local dealers or resellers need to pay big amount of import tax or duit 'starbucks'? hmm.gif

i really applaud local bros and dealer who are working hard in promoting the sport in malaysia notworthy.gif will definitely buy from local resellers whenever the price difference is 'logical'. icon_rolleyes.gif

just another humble suggestion...local dealers/clubs should offer attractive discounts on
a) good masks
b) good pellets
c) simple, reliable, robust entry level marker (package of 2s)
of course you can use house markers for starters but nothing beats the feeling of owning and using your own marker and taking good care of it.
d) rental or usage of speedball field (no min headcount on days when business is slow)

paintball is not a cheap sport but if we keep these 2 things( below) cost low more people will get hooked.
1) startup cost
2) consumables (pallets)

local operators can also consider having indoor type paintball field, something similar to futsal so people can go get their fix come rain or shine, day or night. rclxm9.gif they might have nightmares though when cleaning up later whistling.gif

our teams are becoming well known internationally. now we need 'champions' among the politicians and royalties to fight and make the sport costs less to be more accessible to the masses. thumbup.gif

let me share my experience purchase item from overseas.

1) Bought lotsa items and when it went through custom, one of my tactical glove gone missing. Seller shown me CCTV confirmed that the glove was put inside, "u know who" took the glove. Luckily all my boots, camo suit, etc arrived safely

2) Bought 2 RAP4 buttstocks and keep my finger crossed. Received it with "DILEPASKAN" stamp hehehe... Damn lucky.

So, the conclusion is that, if you purchase items from overseas, keep your finger crossed that 1) it will not stuck at the custom 2) it will not be stolen by "u know who".

makes us wonder...what actually happened to all the stuff that were stuck at customs? hmm.gif anybody knows when those guys are having their 'garage sales', pls PM me...ke ke ke rclxms.gif

paintball mask needs SIRIM... heard that b4..
what a bull.. tons of stuff gets into the country such as bike helmet or 'backyard-produced knock-off item' with no SIRIM whatsoever & they're worried abt paintball mask that's ATSM verification..?!  shakehead.gif

altho most things are produced in china but most of them don't have storage werehouse there to market it here, so things are transported back to US, that's why it's more expensive eventho it's made just next door..
*
well..maybe some of the local proshops can source directly from china (of course unbranded la sket) and bring them in, sell them at a manageable price. for all we know these manufacturers from china are probably the same manufacturers who are doing the contract manufacturing for dye, sly, proto, valken or angel. heck, my invert too loader is made in china doh.gif

my wish list of items that i think should be at least 20 to 30% cheaper are
a) mask
b) pants
c) jerseys
d) guards
e) loaders

markers should be 30 to 40% less icon_idea.gif

they'd still sell based on US+margin+'tax' price, even if it's made in salak south... but there'd be a brand i know gonna sell as per the price shown on the internet, soon... just watch for it... wink.gif

oh ok.......will be waitin' n watchin'.....but i suppose i shudn't hold my breath? flex.gif

QUOTE(subsonique @ Nov 19 2010, 10:52 PM)
haha try getting DYE items from Flashpoint la bro. we sell them at competitive prices but we don't overpriced our items. as for 40% less in markers, well bro, i don't know how to explain to you. but please again and again i am telling all of you, do not compare prices with the US or European sites. that is wrong bro. we live in Malaysia, we have to do what it takes to get markers in. it ain't easy i tell you, and the costs of getting them in, the hassle, the shitness that we go thru, the profit margin, just don't do justice i kid you not. well you can go on buying from the States, cheaper of course, but when it comes to warranty claiming on parts or maybe markers itself, are you gonna go back to the States to do it? no of course not. you see, our prices here are inclusive of warranty claims, meaning if bad things happens to your marker, we have to send it back to the regional distributor (Taiwan for DYE), at our own cost! as i said it ain't easy and please do not think that the profit margin is big because it is not (at least not for Flashpoint la). shipping cost is another problem, yeah ship using sea, cheaper but it takes ages to reach. customers want their markers in 3 day's time, FedEx it and we don't even charge extras for the FedEx fee smile.gif as i said it ain't easy, for vendors or even end users.

there are a lot of things end users don't understand. there are a lot of harsh roadblocks that vendors have to go thru in order to make end users happy. and do you know that the profit that we make from the sale, we give back to the community? maybe not directly to you, but yup directly to the industry, for the love of the game smile.gif
*
thanks for the explanation bro subsonique tongue.gif
i can only imagine the hassles that the local dealers need to go thru blush.gif i also do not recommend ballerz to buy markers or any functional components that require warranty online. anyway, in the end it's up to the end user to do their research thoroughly and make their own decision from where to purchase. taking the 'bomb' that FedEx charges into account, the saving is small when buying online.
i salute you and the other local dealers for giving back to the ballerz community. notworthy.gif
peace bro icon_rolleyes.gif
