While it is a good place to intro the sport of paintball, it think it is also part and parcel of us regulars to discourage the discussion on how to get past customs for oversea shipment. Like what Sub mentioned, while it is cheaper to get from overseas at times, it is also crucial for people who are new to the game to learn how to support the local businesses.
Those who doesn't believe in supporting the local businesses shouldn't be the ones who come asking for the shops for sponsorships at the end of the days. I think its really unfair for the business owners if all paintballers look for is sponsorship, even those who just started paintball for merely a week.
While sponsorship helps, people should also be aware that sponsorship means responsibilities. Responsibilities to perform, responsibilities to promote the sports and the brand, responsibilities to have the commitment. It is very sad to see that some teams just doesn't bother to bring their gameplay / skill to a higher level and all the seek for is sponsorship and sulk when they don't get any.
I believe a lot of people will say that paintball is an expansive sport. That depends on how you look at it. If you're just a casual player, then by all means paintball only when you can afford. For those who are commited to tournaments, maybe you should plan your trainings. not so much of skirmishes but more personal skill building and trust me, that saves a lot of pellets.By the end of the day, people will always go to the cheapest shop, cheapest field and such. of course, you pay peanuts u get monkeys and don't complain when the paint swerves or doesn't break.
I guess that's all for now, great job for making this thread one of the most active thread in the sports section and keep up the good work !
Happy Balling !
ps: just my 2 cents of ranting..

go to a field, try to get a feel of both brands of markers from those who own one, try, then see which one u prefer more. If you ask me, I'm a Dye Hard DYE fan. So my opinion might be biased.
