it's been a long while since I first started the 1st thread and i'm glad it continue to go on till the 4th and it's coming to be the 5th ( 40+ more post ! )

While it is a good place to intro the sport of paintball, it think it is also part and parcel of us regulars to discourage the discussion on how to get past customs for oversea shipment. Like what Sub mentioned, while it is cheaper to get from overseas at times, it is also crucial for people who are new to the game to learn how to support the local businesses.
Those who doesn't believe in supporting the local businesses shouldn't be the ones who come asking for the shops for sponsorships at the end of the days. I think its really unfair for the business owners if all paintballers look for is sponsorship, even those who just started paintball for merely a week.

While sponsorship helps, people should also be aware that sponsorship means responsibilities. Responsibilities to perform, responsibilities to promote the sports and the brand, responsibilities to have the commitment. It is very sad to see that some teams just doesn't bother to bring their gameplay / skill to a higher level and all the seek for is sponsorship and sulk when they don't get any.

I believe a lot of people will say that paintball is an expansive sport. That depends on how you look at it. If you're just a casual player, then by all means paintball only when you can afford. For those who are commited to tournaments, maybe you should plan your trainings. not so much of skirmishes but more personal skill building and trust me, that saves a lot of pellets.By the end of the day, people will always go to the cheapest shop, cheapest field and such. of course, you pay peanuts u get monkeys and don't complain when the paint swerves or doesn't break.

I guess that's all for now, great job for making this thread one of the most active thread in the sports section and keep up the good work !

Happy Balling !

ps: just my 2 cents of ranting..

go to a field, try to get a feel of both brands of markers from those who own one, try, then see which one u prefer more.

If you ask me, I'm a Dye Hard DYE fan. So my opinion might be biased. rclxms.gif

im new here...
something to ask, y some marker r shorter like hand gun but longer end...
while some like machine gun...
in term of weight, there is different.. but wat else different?
shot power?

hope I could provide some assistance here.

Basically there are 2 types of markers that we look into, the scenarios and the tournament ( speed ball )

Scenario markers are more open to designs in terms of shape, size and looks. Since it is more meant to be for scenario, some a made to look like firearms in real life. However, no matter how different they may look, most manufacturer will start with a basic model, but with extra changeable parts that would make the basic model look like something else. ( put it this way, with different parts you could mod / "dress up" your marker to look like MP5, or M4A1, or AK 47 or something else. ) In terms of performance wise, chances are not much difference except for the barrel length that will give some differences in distance of pellets flying, other than that, it still boils down to the basic model that you have in the first place. Generally able to shoot semi auto, 3 balls burst fire, or full auto at maximum of 25 balls per second.

Speed ball markers in the other hand are more into performance rather than looks. every new model that comes out will be lighter, faster, and more efficient. looks? it's always new 3D milling at the body that differentiate it most of the time. Try Google image up Ego 8 , 9 , and 10, or better still, Dye 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10 and you'll get what i mean. Generally able to shoot semi auto, ramping mode, full auto at maximum of 40 balls per second. allows precise micro adjustments on dwell, trigger sensitivity and also ball per second.

Shot power depends solely on the adjustments you made on your marker's regulators. Basic physics, more air, more powerful shot. How powerful can it get depends on the marker's mechanism before the seals or orings decided to give way when the pressure is too high. but DO TAKE NOTE that the basic rule in paintball is that your marker shouldn't be shooting more than 300 FEET per second. Else you might shoot thru someone's mask and seriously injured that person.

Generally speed ball markers are more expansive and they perform better and weigh lighter due to the nature of their purpose. Think of it as race cars, built to go fast and light. Scenario markers on the other hand are built to LOOK like real guns and performance is just like your other sedan car. occasionally can run fast, but if compared to race car, of course it's another story. ( imagine waja modded to look like Evo and you shall get the drift )

Handguns ? 9 rounds to 12 rounds clip and had to rely on small CO2 canister that can only last u 40+ shots. if you don't mind to keep buying co2 canisters ( not reusable / refillable ) then by all means go for it, it's kind fun to play with one but a bit hassle to reload every 12 shots and re-gas after four magazine load.

thanks for all the info... those ego and dye u recommend look mostly like the one i need... but still i need time to reconsider before purchasing... because i only played once... gonna have my 2nd time in this month..
how much a dye or ego cost for the average or cheapest marker?
i think i prefer more on scenarios... mostly will get a headgear first... all headgear r anti fog? or we need to look for those anti fog version? i see some ppl customise with something else which can reduce fog

Dye and egos latest model (10') will cost you more than 5k ( going by year )
09' models ard 3k
08' models ard 2.5k

Dye NT at 6k

else, try to consider PROTO PMR should be in the region of 2.5k

Do note that price above does not consist loaders and tanks.

hmm.. a to be scenario player with speedball markers... rare combination but deadly as hell !

Most high end lenses comes with dual lens / antifog lens , they are going to cost ard RM 300

Off topic, I have a NEW ROTOR for sale, black. price arr.. offer me a good one lor then we can talk.
