This Proton Saga BLM "Boleh Letak Mivec" started its life with the CAMPRO 1.3 engine which was suddenly ended two weeks into its life due to its owner suicidal attempt merentasi air banjir.



The owner a "Cikgu", initially wanted to replace its broken Campro 1.3 engine with another Campro unit. However when he was quoted close to RM 15,000 for that not even 100hp powertrain he decided to get 175ps @ 7500 rpm in the form of 4G92 MIVEC derived from the Lancer CK4A.



The 4G92 MIVEC is also widely known as MIVEC " terbalik " which we have seen installed in various WAJAVECs , Gen-2s. and finally make its way into the New Proton SAGA BLM.



This is all the info we have right now.Last but not least the installation was done by Nick Motorsport of Bangi. Watch this space for an exclusive video and test drive report soon.

Engine installation completed for the Proton Saga BLM = "Boleh Letak Mivec" and is now running.Here are some updated photos taken yesterday ( 3rd July 2008 ).According to Nick Motorsports the engine conversion can be completed on the new Saga in one week time.Looking at the photos you will see that this Saga is still retaining the stock dashboard and everything from the factory except for the gear lever that originally came with the 4G92 Mivec engine.Also noted is the HKS air filter.The rest is still original and we cant wait to post the review of the Proton Saga 'Boleh Letak Mivec'.

installing a vtec engine definitely need to do extra welding on the mounting which eventually will fail puspakom inspection
like acbc suggested, campro engine probally is redesigned engine based from Mitsubishi 4G9x series

Insurance doesn't cover flood, unless you pay additional premium for flood, which is 25% of your flood sum insured.

CLAIM money better then claim engine, as u noe the proton people will need how long time to give u back a engine , better give them 1 or 2 weeks check , then process pay u money , in the same time go change a good engine then campro .

guess this is the first BLM with a MIVEC engine transplant........Whether the original campro engine is CPS version or not........ The new CPS engine introduced by proton also used on gen2 n waja may have similarity to mivec as in term of cam profiling....

need to change @ reprogram back ECU, gearbox also?

ecu and wiring using 4g92 mivec ck4a one... no longer campro... its basically a normal engine transplant... jz that it is done on a new car, saga....

gearbox i not sure... perhaps using the mivec original auto tranny....

according to the law of 25% limit, yes. He can do the swapping from 1.3 to 1.6 as the maximum 25% increase from 1.3 is to 1.6 and no larger than 1.6 (which means no 1.8, 2.0 etc.).

If the engine's mounting pass puspakom's check. No problem la..

n is it true, that ive heard people saying that the blm wit the standard 1.3L campro is not economical, by that i mean it uses a lot of fuel??

Car are designed to balanced with the chasis and engine power. Yes it could only be puny power, but the engineers don't want to take risk to give power that could bring risk to the car, and life too as they are liable to the car design..even with current design they give chasis 2 times strengthening..

My friend did mod his original Proton Saga, equip it with VR4 engine..within 6 months his car chasis start to bend. After 18 months usage without any accident, he have to write off the car as the car body rendered unuseable..

VR4 in saga/iswara is too much laa.. that's a well known fact among us enthusiast, but still some wacko with dough will still go for it, and as u've mentioned above, will have to write off their car in a matter of time.
