Yes that's how things work in Sunway for all their papers. Get's quite sickening how we have to pay obscene prices for our fees, and yet still have to pay for our notes. This is unlike other colleges where the cost for the notes are all absorbed into the fees. Sighh.. shakehead.gif

QUOTE(Topace111 @ Mar 2 2009, 10:36 PM)
I heard that Chong Kwai Fatt is only teaching temporarily at sunway for P6. He will also stop teaching in few weeks & will be replaced by someone else. It seems he was there at the fist place just to be "temporary subsitute".

Can anybody clarify on this ?
I was informed by friends who want to go there at 2nd term but put off by this news.

Yes the news is true. Apparently CKF was only supposed to conduct 4 classes for the resit classes, but after some problems Sunway had, he ended up teaching the full time classes instead. And Sunway didn't have the courtesy to inform students and would-be-students that he'll be around for only those 4 weeks. Last week was supposed to be his last class but he decided to teach an extra week to finish covering the areas of the syllabus which he thinks is important. Classes will then be taken over by his assistant after that.

Looks like our dearest Teo Ee Sing has done it again...sem after sem he keeps screwing us up.

Just to clarify some misunderstandings here.

All the talk about Sunway barring students from going for exams is actually crap. As much as they threaten you and make you believe that you're gonna get barred if you skip or do badly in their internal exams, they don't have any power in stopping you from going for the exam.

I've seen my friends getting ridiculous marks (single digits) for their internal exams, leading to them being called up to the 'beloved' director's office. He would try and talk them into deferring the papers to the following sem, but at the end of the day, it is their own choice whether to sign to deferral form or not.

Also about Sunway removing student's names from the lists, I can't tell if that's how low they've gone in recent times, but last I checked, they could only do that to students who have not been attending any classes at all. Having been the class rep a few times before, I had checked with my classmates and found that the pass rate is indeed reflective of how well the students did in general.

That aside, Mr Teo is indeed a pain in the rear. All his policies are aimed solely at increasing his profitability. While this is a mark of a true businessman, he's doing it too viciously at the expense of the students who are not too well off. While I can't represent most Sunway students on this, but I can say that one of the main reasons that many students are now turning away from Sunway is because of the insanely high fees. Myself included.

Having been under the tutelage of purportedly 'vastly experienced' lecturers in the KL colleges such as Ms Sheila, Philip Woo and Dr Parmindar, I can say that the difference between them and the Sunway lecturers aren't exactly worlds apart. It all boils down to the ability of the student to adapt and absorb what the lecturer is trying to convey. On how the lecturing style of Sunway lecturers is labelled 'spoon feeding' compared to KL lecturers, I feel this is true to a certain extent. But what is more important is that the students must know how to chew for themselves.

However, at the end of the day, it's a no brainer that it is with your own effort, understanding and commitment that'll bring you through exams. There's only that much that a lecturer can do for you.

Life's too short for all the fan boy-ism and hate that's circling in this forum. Go out and have more fun with your lives. ACCA students aren't and shouldn't be squares! icon_rolleyes.gif

Edit: before this gets taken out of context by anyone here, my post is by no means an attempt to glorify Sunway nor any other college. I prefer to look at the broader picture, championing the rights of what ACCA can do for our lives, rather than Sunway or KSA or MCO or whatever..
