Since you will take in KSA, i think i can highlight what you will probably miss :
F4 = The lecturer will normally conduct his 1st term in biz law so you should concentrate on this area of syllabus.
F5 = I was not too sure but the lecturer always put more emphasise on calculation, so you should read more about theoretical part.
F6 = You need to master these 2 thing no matter which lecturer you pursue :
1) Master the format of tax computations : Personal & Corporate.
Tax undergo so many changes throughout the year that i becames almost impossible to do all question of exam without understand the flow.
My lecturer gave us some past year from 1999. Believe me my lecturer pinpoint more than 6 changes to employment income in that space of 8 years.
Next try to memorise as much of deductible / non deductible / double deduction & taxable / non taxable income. Just memorise at much as possible. Past year will pinpoint the popular ones : freight charges of ....local insured company....goods export / import = qualifies for double deduction sort of thing.

F4 normally start with Contract 1st la...
not business le..

I thought biz & contract is law the same ? Anyway maybe i am mistaken  biggrin.gif
His class in first term is way funnier & more interesting than 2nd term.
He rushed at the last day but still cannot finish & left some areas out.
*
no prob..^^..cause he normally scare if ppl join 2nd term, unable to catch the most important topic of exam- the business law..

for my term, he din rush much though...everything also cover..even got extra hours...haha

there are 2 very very experienced lecturer around
- siva at FTMS = He is ex-examiner but he is very quick & lack the ability to spread the message accros.
- Alan at KSA = never attend his class but friends agree he is quite boring.

There are another 2 whom can teach more "student friendly" :
- Wong paik wan at MCO = never attend her class but quite ok
- Chin ann in KB = In my opinion i think he is the best tax lecturer "for now". He will teach in systemathic way since tax is all jumbled up.

In tax you need to know all the rules on expenses & income before you proceed with the computations of format. Chin ann will teach you all the rules not by the syllabus which requires you to provide the format while learnign them. Siva has made these very difficult for me at the beginning by requiring us to produce the full format first without explaining the theory behind it first (he follow strictly by syllabus).

Chin ann style is to make the paper more difficult than it appears to be so you will be more relaxed in exam. He will provide you all this fuinny scenario that examiner rarely tested but if did you will find it very easy.

F6 in KSA got 1 more lecturer, Mr Andrew Kok...if can, may consider him also.^^
he normally using power point as his notes and all important points that need to be notes is inside the power point...It was helpful whennear exam..no need go thru the thick text book..^^

Added on December 17, 2008, 7:12 amDaniel Ho and Mr.Andrew Pang actually what is the difference?

Thanks, but there are more than just accountancy job it i want to find job in future. I can do auditing and financing all that. I'm pretty comfortable with that. But if i were to take pre u, i would definitely go for engineering instead. a totally different pathway from ACCA. i have to admit that i'm better with numbers that science subjects =)
*
erm..sorry to say so...
but ACCA is not about numbers all lo..even though is accounting field..^^
is application and some paper are full theory of writing as well..like Law paper..or CAT T5 paper..

hello there..i'm new here..n i seriously have a question.because i'm going to pursue my higher studies in accounting after my spm...do we have to sit for add maths in spm? i mean do the college accept students who don't sit for spm? i know that the minimum grade to be accepted is 5 credits but i can't do add math...so i'm wondering whether add maths is needed.. can someone help? i would really appreciate it.. thanks!

if u really wan to pursue in accounting, add math is not an area of accounting anyway..
i think the tuition provider din look at the results..

hi..i am new here..i have just a very small question regarding about f6.

on the topic of individual residence status, there is a topic on temporary absence. it was said that certain TA can be ignored for certain conditions for example 'due to ill health involving himself and his immediate family..' my question is this: when it is mentioned immediate family, does it include parents? I am confused as different lecturers say different things.

Alan yeo (KSA): no matter he is single or married, immediate family means only including his spouse and children.
wong paik wan (ORANGE): if he is single, immediate family is his parents; if he is married, only his spouse and children.

Is Alan yeo better or ms rozi from sunway better for f6? please help and advice. thanks =)
*
I give u a better view of Immediate Family

when you are single - Immediate Family is your parents

when you are married - Parents no longer your Immediate Family
as to you have already build your own family
so Spouse and Children will be your Immediate Family
once you married

Hope this will clear things up..

Yeah for T5 get the BPP textbook...you won't regret it and also if possible get an ic recorder to record the lectures...it's very helpful.

Please don't wait until the revision then you study, you're gonna regret it.Consistent study throughout the course is the way to go and also develop your essay writing skills along the way.

yea,i agree wit this...
if can , juz see last few sittings past year as well, i think the Q asked got a bit dif...in the recent sittings
