should i work part time and go for acca part time?
*
That depends on 2 major factor :
1) The type of company you are working with
2) Your capability to effectively manage to balance your work with studies.

If you are working with large firms especially dealing with accountancy / tax / finance / audit line they will be more lenient & helpful in accomodating with your studies. If i am not mistaken firms like PWc & BDO encourage such employees by letting them to go back early for classes.
Some company may be less understanding so you may burnout from work overload if such circumstances arises & you may find study a lot more difficult.

Many find it very difficult to juggle their life between work & studies (unless the job is very stress free). Not one i heard that study-work part time did not struggle with their studies. Eventually you will hear many people will start to blame something for their failure in thier exam. If they cannot blame their lecturer then they will use working status as an excuse.

You can definitely choose this route but it is very long & demanding.

if you don't fail. Tuition fees will cost you a rough estimate of RM2k * 11 + RM1k * 9 + 60 * 21 * 6 = Rm40k + OBU Rm8k = RM48k. Somewhre there.

+ Living expenses at RM1.5k a month (rental, food and entertainment) * 36 months = RM 48k (i think this is again highly dependant on ur situation)

Total up, RM96k?

Less any SPM straight As u get, assuming CAT u get full scholarship, it'll cost u RM88k?

So for anyone who's coming in, it'll cost between RM40k - RM96k?

I was thinking to take up a job + part time study attending class at night too for next seating. If we're working with Small/Medium company dealing with accountancy / tax / finance / audit line, what do they expect us to know when we take up the job mostly ? I dont have any working experience but im really curious what they would expect us to know/to do. Will there be anyone to guide us normally or full hands-on on a single work.

Hi All, I'm new here. I am a housewife and a self study student and intend to sit for F1-F3 paper this year. My problem is ...I've already bought the study materials(study text, practice & revision kits etc) for Dec 2008 and June 2009 before I changed my mind to sit for the papers on Dec 09 instead of June 09.I just gave birth last february, and i don't think I can study in 2 months time and handle 2 children at the same time(a newborn and a 2 year old toddler). My Question..is the materials still relevant(that I don't have to sell and still use it) or should I buy the latest edition(materials for Dec 2009 and June 2010)?

Thanks

Well I don't know much about sunway but if you want to take in Kl from CAT level it will not match sunway.
Exam fees (Uk pound) + centre fees (RM) for entire acca package (inculding CAT) = cost you around RM 25,000 to Rm 30,000 excluding living & accomodation expenses & transportation cost.
CAT < Rm 10000 , F4 to F9 : RM 8000 - RM 10000 , P1 to P7 : RM 8000 - RM 10000 which already includes Uk exam fees.

You don't have to go to sunway to take all their papers but I seriously recommend CAT to familiarise with the foundation. After that you can jump.

Hey! Im studying in Sunway now, CAT>ACCA course too. The cost will not reach more than 45k if you're not staying in the hostel. Anyway, it's just my 2nd week xD. come join! BTW i got 10A2B too! CAT costs about 10k+. Yeah you can get a loan. Though, try to aim for their World prizes and you'll get full tuition fee waiver for ACCA. That's what they told me.

erm..u cant get ptptn loan for acca course, but other loan i am not sure about it..

a world prize in cat will only give u 100% waiver in cat(exclude acca) and malaysia will only get 50% waiver..so in order to get full waiver u must get atleast 2 prizes throughout the whole course,1 in cat and another 1 in acca

Professional advices needed icon_question.gif

Currently my i need handle for some of my Company KPI reports (Key Performance Index)
My Company business of nature is hospitality.

OCC %
AVE RATE
Revpar
ROOMS SOLD
ROOMS REVENUE

Rooms
Payroll & Related POR
Payroll & Related PAR
Guest Supplies POR
Commission POR
Print. & Stnry POR
Expenses POR
Expenses PAR
Dept Profit %
Dept Profit POR
Dept Profit PAR
Dept Profit $

My question is the Commission for POR can consists of credit cards commission??
If yes then which subject of the ACCA touch it. I dunno how to apply.

For me, i am thinking should include in the Commission for POR.
Example: Per room sell RM100
If Cash received RM100

BUT

If Credit Cards received RM98.50
So, Commission POR RM1.50

OR

Bank Charges RM1.50

I know it depends on the biz nature of transaction. If it is very substantial part of your hotel main cost.

If i received credit cards, that mean my revenue will be decrese due to the commission payment.
So i consider part of my room operating cost.

What you all guys think??
Please advice and correct me if i am wrong. doh.gif

Alternatively, just work hard in ur spm and get the straight A1s to get 100% fee waiver for CAT and a world prize in ACCA (1 out of 6+5=11 papers)

Touche, must handle the burden of getting prize for the new successors.
I have received an acca email :
"If you already have excellent financial English skills, why not demonstrate these to potential employers with the Cambridge International Certificate in Financial English (Cambridge ICFE)? Cambridge ICFE is a unique qualification offered by the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (English for Speakers of Other Languages) and ACCA."

Any opinion regarding this ?

I personally feel that thing isn't worth the time and money spent, if your english is up to par to begin with. Besides, nobody sounds super formal in the working world anyway...
