Hello all, this my first post here.. Started playing tamiya 4 months ago and find it very interesting as it involves physics brows.gif . I know I have lots and lots to learn, hope you guys can help me biggrin.gif
Here's some qns Im pondering, maybe some pros can help answer and discuss too ^^

1) Rollers - Suppose you have the same car width regardless of which roller you use, which type of roller will be faster when turning?
(5mm,7,9,11,13mm ball bearing rollers, 17,19mm aluminium rollers)

2) Tires - For the tire width, why is it that most stock tires front width is smaller than the back? Will it be better if I were to use all tires of the same width?

3) Length of Car - What are both the pros and cons for having a longer or shorter car?

4) Track with jump after a corner - (Thought of this question in response to 13lack.12ose's guide few pages back)
Suppose the track is a turn, followed by a jump. My car did the tilt cornering for the corner, and enters the jump. As a result, the car enters the jump with a tilt and flies with a little tilt. (Any secret to help me achieve tilt cornering and yet achieve a straighter jump? drool.gif)

Hope you all can icon_question.gif ar ^^ TIA.

Thanks David and black.rose for the answers, appreciate it smile.gif

Ans 4: Tilt cornering is dependent on the centrifugal force as well as relative positioning of your CG and rollers. The moment your car exits the corner there will be no tilt and the car will naturally rest on 4 wheels. With the length of the jump, your car should jump straight no problems.

My car still tilts after exiting the corner and into the jump..because it will "fly" with either the left side or right side down, depending on a right turn or left turn..
If I were to place the back rollers higher, will the tilt be reduced? Or how should I position the back rollers?
(P.S. - I have tried putting the ball caps of stabilizing pole on but it still tilts.. mad.gif )

Hi everyone !

There will be a Tamiya 4wd mini tracks set-up this sunday (08MAR) at Pasir Ris Elias CC from 0900am onwards till 1200 noon.
Intention to gather all the Tamiya 4wd mini racers and have a fun racing time together.
Hopefully ... it's will become a regular hang-out's for the 4wd mini racer's ...maybe twice a month or even every weekends.

Nice Ride! Modding Black Saber onto SFM chassis! Welcome aboard fm saber and susunooblike! Glad to see more and more people coming back.

Finalised my mass damper setting under the cover as well  brows.gif  brows.gif  brows.gif

There are 3 effects achievable with this damper. See if you can figure them out  rclxms.gif

Hmm.. let me guess ar tongue.gif 1) absorb vibration from motor as u mentioned
2) absorb landing impact so wont bounce..
3) i dunno.. Can teach me why u install the damper this way(pointing back) instead of pointing to the front?

Btw, This sunday 8 march at tampines blk 419 the first prize abit different this time round thumbup.gif (2 lane track wif laptimer + MS car iirc) thumbup.gif

Qns. Which car will land in a shorter distance?

Let's say there are 2 cars of the same design, Car A and Car B.
I add some weight to Car B in the centre, and use a pair of slightly powerful battery for Car B to compensate for its speed reduction due to weight.
Car A and B travel at the same speed and reach a jump in the track..which car will land in a shorter distant??
