hello guys i'm a new mini 4wd player tongue.gif. want to ask, what is no.377 wide roller stay set (damped) for? as i know last time the no.15198 (Tamiya Rear Sliding Damper & Brake) that will actually improve cornering speed.

edited: added the code number for the old parts

Hello. I do not think the sliding damper set will improve cornering speed, 'cause it will absorb impact in fact will slow down during cornering.
*
thanks for reply.

if want to improve cornering speed, should i maximize the front roller width and minimize the back roller width? i'm also thinking about what roller to use since there are a lot of options. which one are your favourite? (17mm, 19mm aluminium roller vs 9mm, 11mm, 13mm ball bearing roller?)

I hate mini-humps, I hate mini-humps. Hyper-dash took my SF to the moon, and torque tune showed us how to somersault a mini4wd (Yes, somersault).  vmad.gif

Even till the very last minute and the very last ticket, the scorching sun did not dampen our will to clear it. So close yet so far away. When we thought we'd be getting a new record, the 360 degrees loop+ hump hammered the very last nail to our determined but futile efforts.  cry.gif

But what falls will rise again. As the night beckons our racing spirit resurrected and we fathomed the unthinkable---> using hyper-dash pro on fresh batteries to conquer the dreaded bridge lane change.  brows.gif

And succeed we did.

After a day of scarred cover (yes, the mini-hump gave my SF a nice long souvenir), flying wheels and tyres, I have to say, it was a glorious day indeed.  rclxms.gif

long straight roads + mini humps + sharp cornering + 360 loop.... last night's race was a madness jumping track. with 6 tries i cant even finish half lap sad.gif

all other racer's parts make me drool.gif i'll get more parts someday.

btw where is TU? ops.. nvm i found out it is tamiya underground in one utama

Lesson 1:

May I knw wat is the main purpose of this kind of wheel, isit call 1 way-wheel?
Hope any1 pro can explain to me... Thanks...

notworthy.gif
*
this type of wheel is to reduce increase the amount of wheel spin of the outside side of the car when the car is turning. example: when ur car turn right, means that the car's right side should move less than left left wheels should spin more than right wheels so it can turn better. although this is the theory but apparently not everyone agree to the performance of the wheel. some say good some say it doesnt work that way @__@.

btw, the track actually got tons of hump and the 360 thingy... my car fly to nowhere at the "big jump" part (after going up the long hill and come down, it boost the car speed to max).

edited: thanks black rose for pointing out the slight misconception smile.gif

3.5:1 gear ratio- Is this nice?
user posted image
*
i believe 3.5:1 gear is a must have. else u wont have other gear to tune your car. 4:1 is good for "power" but 3.5:1 is a must to achive higher speed.
i'm looking for it too...

in crying mode.... let me post my car's pic...

today i bought the ms pro evo 1 set.... after few round of testing... this is what it happen when the car fly out of the track.
Attached Image
the N02 (front parts) is softer than i thought... my advise is... must use frp set to harden it else when the car fly out of track, good luck...

my comment about the evo 1 set: the 620 ball bearings are really nice, it also come with 4 pieces of 3mm (thickness) frp wide plate (2 for 9 & 17mm roller, 2 for 13 and 19mm roller). the body chasis very light but also quite fragile (reinforce? erm... i dont know about that...). i havent try out other parts yet.

the car that i just fixed after the broken N02 Unit... any sifu can give some comment about the setting? the overall setting is base on the one in MS pro evo 1 with minor change. added the metal extension plate at the back to shorten the front and rear distance. also replaced the original roller with 6x 920 ball bearing rollers without any angle adjustment (the front seems to have some angle but just a bit, rear is 0 degree). placement is shown in the attachment. engine will be torque-tune pro or hyper dash pro depending on the track. kinda worry about the small hill part... should i add brake or this 2 little yellow ball at the back should work fine? i dont know anything about the wheel & engine & car weight combination so i hope sifus can teach me a bit.

hmm my post last night dissapeared after LYN was down today. anyway i repost my question

QUOTE(david tamiya @ Feb 24 2009, 12:30 AM)
nice and stable setup but u need to lower your rear rollers for better stablity and this setup is for speed tracks as races held now your car setting is not suitable but just keep it for pro tour 2009 your car will get the chance to unleash its full potential in this races

sample for rear roller placement

hi david, thanks for giving your comment, i'll lower the rear rollers. may i know how to set the car for technical tracks? icon_question.gif

btw, there is a different type of washer come together with the evo.1 set. may i know the thing is for tuning the rollers' angle or something else? icon_question.gif
