Hei, newbie here wanna join velodyne club.
Actually ordered SVS PB12-NSD but Eric (SVS's boss) warned about our custom clearance so cancel the order.
Was browsing around when I found this tread and kenna poison kaw-kaw until cannot tahan went to A&L after work & bought CHT-12R.
Its 50 watts less then the PB12 but saved some $$ and 'kopi'

QUOTE(callmevil @ Nov 17 2008, 08:09 PM) lol u shouldve just went ahead with the pb12.. USD599 + USD200 (courier) not yet include M'sian tax (in custom's website all hi-fi electronics is 30% taxable although I heard u can drive down to KLIA & buy some kopi ) In the end would probably cost RM3k at least, thats RM500 more for 50 watts.

Thanks, 1 thing bout the CHT is the large footprint. Not many place can fit & very low WAF (wife approve factor). Impact series is much smaller and cheaper. Wonder whats the specs

QUOTE(HornyAngMoh @ Nov 23 2008, 12:32 PM) Anyway I am a bass nut so still looking for a good sub. BTW svs now got PC12-NS @ USD549 don't know if compared to Velodyne CHT-12r or Paradigm DSP3200 better? PC12-NSD u mean, spec wise (12 inch NSD woofer, 350 watts BASH amp, goes down to 20 Hz) it will out perform the other 2 subs although the cost is also relatively higher

if can afford alway go 4 'overbass' (can adjust the volume) rather than 'underbass' (need to upgrade)
CHT-12R is overkill fr my current set-up (upgraded from 8' 70 watts)

During the week-end I tested Transformers DVD (1st time w. CHT-12R) & during the 'ironhide flipping' part, my sub seems to bottom-out with distrotion. Other members with the same sub seem to be able to handle the bass is it due to my setting or positioning or did I set the volume too high?
FYI crossover set @ direct on the sub and 80 hz on the AVR. As for positioning then cannot change much since the bugger is huge and I have limited space.
Another matter, my sub cable have some arrows along the cable. Should the arrows be pointing into the sub or into the AVR?

Yup Onkyo, but don't have SPL meter so cannot manually adjust my EQ.
But goin by wat u said, means need to adjust LFE volume downwards?

QUOTE(htkaki @ Dec 30 2008, 09:25 AM) MicroVee (6") or MiniVee (8"). Small but expensive MiniVee (8") is packed with a 1000w amp and cost like 5k+ in KLCC. Really tight bass and very compact, can place on bookshelf but if space is no problem better get the SPL series REL produce musical sub dunno how it will handle movies

QUOTE(WCH69 @ Jan 22 2009, 05:56 PM) I bought QED SRSW from futureshop, this is fantastic sub cable(compare to it price RM158 only), the sound is clean and can hear deeper LFE, after two week times I bought another QED Y adapter from futureshop. When I connected this Y adapter to my CHT-12R, the AQ improve a lot. Even I have to turn down the sub volume from 37db to 30db, and also adjusted the sub level in AVR ( Yamaha RXV-1500 ) from -2.5db to -5.5db. My living hall is now full with bass, and this bring a lot of fun when watching the movies. What cables were u using previously?

QUOTE(logit85 @ Mar 31 2009, 03:10 PM) i see that is brand VELODYNE for movies but music no good but if watch movies can play louder but music cannot play louder coz will fast damage that is one so no good i looking another brand need good for play music songs Hey Bro, me think u r 'confused'; the SPL Velodyne can definitly 'boom boom' & is loud & its 1000 watts!!! You can say its not as 'musical' or 'fast' as JL audio or some Hi-Fi Sub....... But if u want loud & boomy u can't go wrong w. SPL. How can it go low enuf for LFE but not enuf to play music bass?? Let us know your application and budget then mayb some sifu will assist u else stop trolling.....

QUOTE(jchong @ Apr 1 2009, 05:39 PM) So, is there any sub which is 'tight' or 'fast' and also has decent 'boom' (don't need ultra powerful 'boom') for about RM2.5k? BTW, any body auditioned the Audio Pro B1.36 sub before? IMHO Fr RM2.5k u can get either tight or fast or decent boom, u cannot get all three; the Velo CHT @ RM2.5k offers decent boom but not very tight. B&W offer tighter bass but don't go low enuf, had a Jamo which was very musical but fails on 'boom'

QUOTE(logit85 @ Apr 1 2009, 05:44 PM) u are sure ??? u using subwoofer Velodyne SPL loud 1000 Watts rms ???? i looking i playing music songs to louder ultra boom boom just i like i playing louder long time to play music songs can play long ? like 1h or 2h someting i wont valume low so i can make valume high can get louder any damage woofer ? SPL? I wish I can afford it on my meager salary If u r looking for a sub & wanna play music loud u probably lookin for the "feng thou" effect where u want to feel the bass hit ur chest.... that my freind is the LFE in play hence u r looking for a powerfull HT sub as oppose to a refined Hi-Fi sub. U need a big woofer with high amplification and can go below 24hz Hence many xperienced "bass heads" recommended SPL. U can oso try importing a SVS or Hsu but avoid the entry level stuff

QUOTE(HornyAngMoh @ Apr 10 2009, 05:06 PM) I use the biggest ie Paradigm DSP 3400 giving the best BOOOOMMM! The other two Roger 10" & Sherwood 12" can go & fly kite far far away! Now that two subs is just all alone in my dark storeroom... Ok actually I did try having 7.3 but the result is terrible the bass all mass up & not so good. Actually 7.3 abit overkill but if u calibrate ur 7.2 properly can sound sweet (sherwood & PAradigm use the roger as a 10" computer sub).
