The German-Malaysian Institute (GMI) is the German-Malaysian educational institute in Malaysia. It was located at Taman Shamelin-Perkasa, Cheras, Kuala Lumpur but now we have moved to the new campus in Bangi, Selangor. GMI started operations in 1992 and was lunched by Tun Dr Mahadir Muhammad (Ex-Prime Minister of Malaysia). The educational goal of GMI is to train technicians in highly skilled areas of education

It is a centre for advanced skills training that offers intensive courses with hands-on practical and theory in the fields of Productions Technology and Industrial Electronics.

The formation of GMI is a result of a joint venture project between the Governments of Malaysia and Germany. It is governed by 10 Board of Directors comprising of representatives from the industry and also the government bodies. This institution is set up as a Company Limited by Gurantee where the founders are Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) and the Malaysian German Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MGCC). GMI had its first student enrolment in 1992 and the number continues to grow until now.

All GMI programs are remarkly industrial-based, action-packed and result-oriented. Throughout the years of operation, GMI has proven successful in generating skillful and competent students in various fields namely design, manufacture, operation, maintenance, fault analysis and complex production plant repair, machinery, equipment, tools and manufactured products. Being able to combine both theoretical know-why with practical know-how in their field of specialization, GMI students have the essential characteristics that have noticeable set them apart from the others in the industrial sectors.

Hey is GMI Good? can provide you route to germany? can tell me further details about this GMI? the webby is quite old and not updated since 2007...so i dun know much about it

i have a friend studying there. all i know from him is that its so damn hard. the batch before him that got through and fly to germany are only 3 people out of 200+ IINM

hey .....i oledi graduate frm GMI last year july07...it is one the best technical college there is in malaysia, sure will be hot demand in the industries wan...for those who wan to study in GMI...take the chance now....new campus damn good i hear....plenty of equipment to play...good learning process....for the wan fly to germany...is A level...only for bumiputra lar......u can fly german also if u study diploma.....but need to sit for some exam lar....preparation for german uni wan.......so anywan want to study in GMI....i would said....Go ahead man.....cheers

ah, my junior

im taking network security too, and i'm the pioneer batch.

being a guinea pig, there's so much confusion and adjustments to our course. and with the head of network security, Mr Azman Jantan, quit GMI to join Shell Australia the course is going down.

but kudos to Mr Hafiz Razali and Mr Hafiz Hanafi for maintaining this course and perfecting it

ps: as for your batch, u will not learn Wireless Network Security during semester 4. they have abolished the subject after the feedback from my batch as the subject isn't suitable to be a standalone subject

maybe it's tough because u dont have the basics of computing. if u have, this course is quite ok.

i'm doing my internship right now, at BERNAMA. some of my classmates got into pure Network Security company and they said it was a good experience because u'll be able to learn many things that u learn in college in-depth like Intrusion Prevention System etc.

but network security scope is very large actually. u have to do the networking, and the security for it.

and it involves many things like Operating Systems used, environment, etc etc.

that's what i learn during my internship.

and no, don't expect like "ZOMGWTFBBQSAUCE I AM A 1337 H4X NAO!!!" for our course. it's a diploma, not a degree btw. extra knowledge u have to search for yourself

One apartment have about 6 room,

the lecturer are not bad lar....during my time they are all exp lecturer....lecturer here are call TTO = technical tranning officer....those who r taking Industrial Diploma for Process Instrumentation Control....all the best!!!!......big money waiting ahead for oil n gas industries....U will meet lots of good TTO there....so all the best to all the jurnior ......there is a feel good factor goin around GMI....it been a long time GMI have been waiting for this day to have our own campus.....for some history....the British Malaysian Institute in Gombak was suppose to be GMI campus.....but GMI choice to wait for this bangi campus......been ages for waiting now is a reality...so study hard n good luck to all GMI student ,tto n staff.....best invesment i made to come to GMI to take my diploma...i hope all of u also feel the same.....

yeah, the facilities not bad, got MEDAN SELERA in campus., got FUTSAL,TENNIS, SWIMMING POOL TOO I GUEST.

MY NEPHEW IS EX GMI, she said that GMi is the best among MFi, and BMi.

GMi also do more PRACTICAL than THEORY, i think they said they take 70% practical and 30% theory for assignment. so easy to Pass.

Then German Certificates is very famous/laku , because german is the best to study for industries such as mechanical engineering.

I found out that, study in GMi not only can go to German, but also can go to UK, or any other country dpends on your course.

But the best thing is, u learn GERMAN language, which is very hard.

im in the PIONEER BATCH of network security, and now doing semester 5, so how can u say that u've been GRADUATED already?

this does not make sense.

and mr. wise guy, don't compare KPTM's course with ours k. they always believe that they're far greater than us due to our 'workshop-attire lookalike' uniform, but in the end, the one who gets paid higher and got job is all that matters. some of my so-called godlike KPTM friends still unemployed till today.

there are also non-bumis in GMI, though the numbers arent that big, probably got quota i think.

look is up to a person idea how GMI is......i dun knw wheather this K-townclan is saying the truth.....but for me ...even before i finish my studies in gmi i was already been offer a few jobs n interview!!!!.....so i dun knw if there is any kebenaran kenyataan diatas......actually GMI is a platform or a tools for u all to use....at the end of the day....is up to u to usaha urself to be where you wan to be in the future........yes gmi diploma can get u to uk universities and only study one year in uk can get degree oledi......but u must be anak Dato lar to study in uk.....need at least rm100K...huhuhuhuhu....my classmate syafiq oledi finish his uk degree......

GMi have their own attire. Their attire is like the 'pekerja kilang one', the one got full zip, because GMi do more practical in workskop.

If u get good result in your pointer, u can apply MARA scholarship, and don't need to be anak datin/dato'.

Hi, I had a time there in 2003 just doing my practical for 3 months in preparation for my degree in Germany.

I was in the Cheras one. I can say that the lecturers are good. From what I have heard, it's not easy there and they focused a lot on practical (might be easy for some).

Various diploma projects have been demonstrated to me during my short time there as well and it was rather impressive.

network security has a huge demand in the industry, and if he can't get a job himself, he's a dumbo. even a computer technician is called a job right?

people in the industry is expecting alot from u because u are doing networking and the security for the networking. it's a very large scope actually.

this one i agree. 90% of GMI students already secured job even before they graduated.

2 attires to be precise. the normal light blue and the dark blue coat. the dark blue coat is only used when u're doing machining iianm.

some senior said to me that they had to learn degree stuffs for their final year project to meet the expectation of the examiners from the industries (engineers etc)

overall GMI is a good college that emphasize on practicals and presentations. i still remember during semester 2 and 3, almost every week my class had to do presentations till we're bored to death with it, unlike some local uni students that'll scared to death when they had to present

2. Can bring laptop there?
3. Can where Jeans?
4. Can Drive car there?
5. Every week can balik rumah?

since GMI has moved to bangi right now, so maybe my answers be invalid.

Cool, I didn't know GMi is this cool and great in delivering its education. I never knew that GMi's cert are internationally recognized. Well Taking engineering courses have bright future as the world now demands more engineer in their countries. Eh, KPTM and Gmi very far away or close by?

that wan is the old GMI, now in new gmi campus....we are surronded by golf resort and taman-taman rumah ler....out of the city life...when i look at the new campus .....i am so proud of GMI....the cheras shameling building sure bring back all those great memory i have wit my classmate n tto n gmi staff....well done GMI....now all i wana nasihat to all junior dun kasi hentam the new equipment and building ......must jaga for future student...he he hehe....i wonder still can smoke in the new campus ah? in the cheras building we can smoke in canteen n beside the staircase in industrial eletronic project room....so nice....so much freedom...he he he

for cheras 1, if u're staying at hostel, the limit is up to 12.00am only. if u're staying outside, u can go back anytime u want lah

not sure bout new campus, i heard everybody has to stay inside the college.

job opportunity?well mostly anything that relates to network lah.

example like network security analyst, network technician, network assistant engineer (hard to be engineer with diploma) etc.

or u can go to the programming side, like building software-based firewall, or perhaps a secured webpage, etc etc lah.

just that don't be fussy about your job lah, since we're only taking diploma.

it's directly under MARA, unlike MFI, BMI which is under UniKL.

think MARA as 1/2 govt, 1/2 private.

Oh under Mara one ah..like that hard to secure scholarship lo because MARA only for Bumis ..so GMI is mostly about engineering and technology lar right? My friend take A-level there. the qualifications is must get 5a and above for SPM i think. You have to get 11 points to apply scholarship.

If more towards government then..meaning you'll get jobs in government sectors more easily? Do they provide any transfer programme to germany after ur diploma study or degree? I wanna noe more seniors! Is GMI having their own campus or is it in a building rented by them?
If let's say I took only 3subs in A lvl and got 9 points(3As),..will I get a scholarsip to further my studies?

GMI is having their own campus, and a big one apparently (my fren told me is way bigger than LimKokWing Cyberjaya, but i have yet to confirm it because i dont have time to go to new campus)

the A-levels have requirement for u to further ur studies to germany. this, im not so sure what are the requirements because im only doing diploma there.

how much pointers in CGPA to get MARA schlarship?

and aslo, attending to class(not work shop) can where any shirt right?
