It is using IP(Ingress Protection) rating.. The IP-rated product is defined by the letter IP and two consecutive digit..
The first digit indicates the level of protection against solid objects such as dust(from digit 0 to 6) and the second is water(from digit 0 to 8)..
The first digit:
0=no sepecial protection
1=protected against solid object > 50mm in diameter
2=protected against solid object > 12mm in diameter
3=protected against solid object > 2.5mm in diameter
4=protected against solid object > 1mm in diameter
5=protected against dust(limited ingress, no harmful deposit)6=dust tight
The second digit:
0=no sepecial protection
1=protected against dripping water
2=protected against dripping water when tilted up to 15 degree from normal position
3=protected against spraying water
4=protected against splashing water5=protected against water jet spray
6=protected against heavy jet spray
7=protected against the effect of immersion
8=protected against submersion
