C702 users. I would like to enquire more detail about the picture quality.

So far did the latest firmware of Sony Ericsson able to solve the low picture quality problem of the camera?

Somehow I have been to some other forum like Chinese.Cari to enquire about C702. This phone doesn't seemed to be a popular phone in Malaysia and Singapore. Why do u think it led to this phenomena?
*
I just checked a few phone store in my area, no one seems to promoting it, and it seems like most sellers are dissing it too! I think I know the reason, you see, the phone is promoted as water splash resistance, if the phone ever get a water damage, what should the seller do?

1st seller "I dont carry C702, this phone have a very very low demand, I dont wanna risk it. Water resistance? Cheating 1 lahhh."

2nd seller "C702 is water resistance, THE BROCHURE SAY ONLY AHHH, I didnt say ahhh, if anything happened to your phone when u go swimming with it, don't come to me."

And here's a tube for people who have problems opening the battery cover! Cant wait to get my C702. XD

Yeah, I will get it within this week. A200 platform? Is that the same platform the K810 is on? Cause I don't consider my K810 a slow phone, although it is a bit laggy at times. xD

How is the GPS? is it useable in Malaysia?

Just got my C702, everything is good and my only gripe is the keypad, a bit hard to press.

I got 1 problem though, everytime i send an sms, it says sending failed, then put it in my outbox folder even though the sms has actually already been sent, any one got any idea? thanks.

What is the latest firmware version at the moment? mine comes with R3BA030, and SEUS says it is the latest. :\

EDIT: Is there away to show time/date in standby(battery saving) mode? Thanks.

The latest software is R3DA029. Yours is an older version. Maybe S.E has not updated the software of your phoneware for the particular region.

No... There is no way to show time/date in standby mode. All new S.E phones doesnt have this feature no more but you can push the volume button and the time will show in standby mode for 2 seconds.
*
How do I update the software then? Is there any other way other than by S.E.'s portal? I searched for updates with my phone too, and it also says it is the most updated version.

then I'll miss that feature on my K810. sad.gif

how the gps work???
using google map??
Google map works pretty good to find your location, but be very careful, it goes online and download maps from google server, which is expensive as hell if you browse a lot. I have not found a way to use the GPS completely offline. sad.gif

P.S.: if the TS is still working on it, add me to the list. Speed Black, RM735(AP, phone only) from jssim. smile.gif

how much is this phone now for best price?
*
I bought mine from a Lowyat.net member(jssim) at RM735 without any free gifts, I think it is pretty good price considered I have surveyed around and most shops are selling it at RM760~780, although with free screen protector or pouch.

Anyone knows how many SMS can the C702 store? Is it phone memory dependent? Or like the older phones, with limited numbers? (e.g.: 1000sms for K810 ), thanks in advance!

for sms u can store it at phone or memorycard....so the limit.....maybe is the capacity of storage?
anyway who is going to store that many sms....for 100 sms already lag like hell when try search for sms....
*
I am just curious, anyway, categorizing and arranging by date help.

BTW, just updated to R3DA029, it isn't easy on AP phones, and crappy Streamyx these days. Did not notice much differences, just hope it doesn't crash/restart again.

questionsss

1- have anyone brought their phone for a swim?smile.gif or like a quick splash in the water like few seconds only
cuz it'll be cool if you could bring your phone on a beach and not worry if it ever drop into the sea or anything

2- phone users which color do u prefer?smile.gif
might be getting it along with my girlfren:)
*
1- I once washed my phone under the tap, still working perfectly. It is splash resistance from all angle but not water/pressure proof, meaning water can still get in if it gets completely submerged into water, because of pressure. Say, if you accidentally dropped it into a pool, I think you got about 10seconds to retrieve it. All and all, don't ever take it with you for a swim.

2- I love my speed black. happy.gif

Not too sure about the max storage for smses. I think it should be the same like other S.E phones. About a hundred smses should be the limit but again storing too many smses really makes the phone lags.

Updating the phoneware requires the user to go through the same procedures be it your phone is an ap or ori set. Just dont understand why u ppl find it hard/different to update to update your phoneware if it is an ap set.

R3DA029 phoneware is a little bit smoother and quicker in terms or performance. I never experienced any crash or restarts after I upgraded to R3DA.
*
I now have more than a hundred sms'es in my inbox, arranged by date and it hardly lags.

No, it is not that easy for AP sets, because most AP suppliers have replaced the CDA codes on their phones with bogus/fake codes for whatever reasons(maybe so you would pay them more for updating phonewares?), in my case, mine was replaced with 12345678_chi_blabla. The CDA are the set of codes show up halfway when you're updating your phoneware, if SEUS detects a bogus code, it tells you your phone has the latest phoneware and stop the process, same goes when updating via the phoneware itself.

That said, to update these AP sets requires you to change your CDA to a real one, you need to find out the real CDA for your reign to not lose your current setting(eg: the chinese input) after updating, and changing the CDA requires the use of thirdparty software that could BRICK your phones if you mess things up, it is quite easy if you know what you're doing though.

Besides, my crappy streamyx connection took more than 3 hours to download the new phoneware, putting my phone in coma during that period, didn't dare to cancel the process in afraid of bricking the phone. :S

I start noticing that now, yes the latest phoneware does seem a lot smoother and quicker, and I haven't get a reboot/crash for a while. smile.gif

Oh I understand your predicament. Thats why I normally stick to a few reputable AP phone suppliers namely COMSAT or TELSTRA coz they would supply phones which are normally for our ASEAN region. Even if it is an Europe set, you can ask their service center to flash and in most cases they have already flashed it themselves before distributing the phones. Their prices are notably a bit more expensive (maybe Rm30 to Rm100 more) but its definitely worth paying for especially if you were to get a set with an ASEAN CDA. This can save u a lot of time and of course headache too.
Streamx connection is crappy. But as I were updating the phone (yes...it took about three hours too), I was browsing through the net and didnt face any problems. Maybe it was because of S.E Update Service own lag. Being a loyal S.E phone supporter, my other phones dont seem to face these kinda problems last time when I updated them.
*
I got my phone from TELSTRA and yet, it came with fake/bogus CDA and old RBA phoneware, I believe the CDA was changed when they converted the phone from another region. My phone came with ASEAN phoneware too, so in order to retain everything, I needed to look for the ASEAN CDA codes to change to.

I dunno, in that 3 hours of waiting, I was wondering what would happen if my connection suddenly goes off, or if there is an electric blackout. tongue.gif

EDIT: Here's a silly question about the Media centre, how do you separate Photos and Pictures listed/shown in the Media Centre? Pictures I copied from PC always got mixed up with my Camera Album, I am wondering how do you get them into the "Pictures" section instead,

guys, i'm planning to buy an AP set from telstra also. how much you bought it last time?

also what is this CDA thing? how do i ensure those telstra people help me to update the firmware to R3DA029 so that it wont crash?

any way to chk it out?
*
Bought my phone at RM735 without any gifts.

I believe the CDA thing is region code that the Update Service detects and download the phoneware of the correct region accordingly. Just ask them to do it, I am pretty sure they would be glad to help, since they are earning from you anyway. I didn't ask because I thought flashing the update is an easy task.

*>*<<*<*
Goes into "Service Info" then "Software Info", the phoneware version is at the first line, I remember my phone came with R3CA030, which is an older version.

Anyone tried the GPS function of this phone with TrekBuddy? I'm considering to get this phone but not sure whether the GPS function works well or not.
*
Trekbuddy works according to TOMEI-R, I haven't tested it myself because I can't find any KL maps for it.

new user of c702 speedy black here...
the thumb kinda pain presing the buttons...(the up down left right one...)

Added on January 16, 2009, 2:32 pmi browse through the forum here and you'll said that the latest firmware is R3CA032. But my phone is installed with R3CA037. I guess that's is latest for now. As for R3CA038, it only support Israel language. So R3CA037 is the best because it support all language
*
Actually, the latest firmware that is downloadable via SEUS is R3DA29, which is newer than R3CA037 and 038. And if you're updating via SEUS, you can have any language you want provided you got the correct CDA code, eg, having a APAC-ANZ(ASEAN) CDA code on your phone will give you the latest firmware with all ASEAN languages.

Does this handphone include any M2?
*
As far as I know, the package does not comes with any M2(unless you pay more to have it included), but the C702 itself has 160MB internal memory, which is a good thing i guess.

You will have to sell them if you are getting a C702 anyway, because it uses M2 instead of microsd.
