I think depends on what you want. The hardcore camera 5.0megapixel is with C902. G900 is smartphone already. Different category. For G900 I think you got screen touch function. You can refer to my first entry on the first phone on the 10 reasons why I choose to buy this phone. Maybe you will know the goodie for this phone C702.

For the photo quality i feel that not much different. Maybe the function a bit changes and for the color I suggest you choose speed black although cool cyan is a rare color but the actual phone with that cyan color looks not so nice as the one you see in brochure.

And another thing to worry is not sure whether cyan color will turn to yellowish or not after you used it for a long time.

I think Malaysia not yet have Original set. But I think AP set from Singapore most probably can get it in KL. Maybe in the lowyat plaza?

For Singapore currently price selling in Sony Ericsson shop is $495sgd.


The small round hole is actually to make the design not easily slip out from your hand and the material to make the back is similar like the small square carpet that you put your phone, key or thing on car so that it won't easily fall down one. I think the hole won't make the phone to become very ugly to me it's fine. But different people got different view what.

Added on July 9, 2008, 9:35 pmFor the C702 camera, after been using this phone for about 3 weeks I realised that the camera is pretty good when you take your photo during day time. But it's very poor in quality during night time. Maybe it's due to the lack of xenon flash. By the way if you want to take a short distance photo for your friend or family, the double LED light is bright enough to see their face. Just that if you want to take a shot on far object during night time then it will be very dark and almost the photo is in black color.

But during day time especially when the sun shine is very bright then the photo you took will be sharp, colorful, clear and nice if compare to the nighttime. Cause if it's too bright the camera will auto adjust the brightness of the photo.

Luckily, you can still use the "Fix Pic" function for your photo which lack of brightness or its too bright. This function can solve it quite well.

Huh what dust under the screen? Don't have any issue regarding the screen but there do have dust a the side of the camera lens cover which is appeared to be inside the covered area. Haiz... any the alarm got bug also plus a bit laggy and sometimes will suddenly restart itself ><" hoping for the latest firmware update.... faster come out leh~

The camera is quite fast in taking the photo leh.. maybe you can try to update the latest firmware and if you feel quite lag while using it you can try to do a factory reset. After that use the normal theme that originally come with the phone. I think most probably is the flash theme which causing the phone to be slow in responding.

To update the latest firmware you need to download the application from this link http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/so...702?cc=sg&lc=en

and then you must make sure your computer have adobe flash player installed in order to run this application. After you download the application from sonyericsson website then run it and install in your computer. After that launch the application call "Update service" from your desktop and follow the instruction to update your phone firmware.

Reminder: when install adobe flash player remember to UNCHECK the install google toolbar check box else your browser will have Google toolbar appear after you install the flash player. Personally I don't like to have any toolbar on my browser. I just dislike toolbar haha.

Erm.. to me is quite ok lah this phone overall. I think I face the restart problem sometime ago cause once I do multitasking like using media player and playing with other function. It will suddenly not responding then auto restart. I do a factory reset and upgrade again the firmware. Seems to be better now. I didn't face any hang before but it's quite slow in response maybe due to the flash theme.

I do face before the problem when listen to mp3 using W810i old earphone on C702, don't know is the phone problem or the earphone problem the MP3 will like cut off a while then continue frequently. But now become stabil abit already after I factory reset it and do a fresh firmware upgrade.

It's a solid and tough phone after all

I suggest you backup all your data to your M2 memory card and then remove out the memory card and do a factory reset. Remember to backup your contact to your memory card as well. I also face the same problem like you before but after I do a factory reset and update again the firmware then it seems to be better a bit. At least won't so lag and also the mp3 song suddenly cut off issue had been greatly reduced. About the lag and slow response maybe you can change to other original theme and try it out. It's what I did for my C702

For me i'm using original so i can upgrade firmware through the firmware upgrade software download from Sony Ericsson Official website. After do a factory reset and before that remember to backup everything. Then now so far rarely feel the auto restart issue already. Almost don't have anymore or maybe seldom go and play with the handphone already haha. But it does solved the problem where mp3 song cut off suddenly then back to normal again.

For what I notice so far, new handphone will always have some phone issue like hang, slow in response, auto restart or shutdown and so on. Most probably can be solve after you update it to the latest firmware. But of course the first few version of firmware is only mean to solve the critical issue so those very minor issue will be solve by the following firmware.

If you encounter any of the problem for SE C702, my suggestion is backup all your phone data. Example phone book contact, photo, mp3, movie clip and so on to your computer before you do a factory reset to your C702. After that format your external memory card as well. because we need to make sure everything is clean & clear and is totally back to default setting.

After that install the sony ericsson firmware update from sony ericsson official website. Run the update program and follow the instruction from the wizard and update your phone to the latest firmware.

Hopefully by doing this it can help you to minimize or reduce the new phone issue for C702. This is what I did for my C702 and it helps to solve the phone auto restart problem when you press to certain function or do several task at the same time. And also help to solve the mp3 player stop playing issue which is seems to be intermitent.

Yeah if you enable the GPS function your telco will charge you accordingly. For the bluetooth I read from previous got someone said he use bluetooth device to access wireless network thus from there he go online with the GPS function and it's free. Not sure whether it's true or not I never try before. If really you are able to connect the bluetooth to wireless then it will be 100% free for the GPS usage. Another alternative way is to download a offline map which just show you the already-made map and it's not real time.

If you buy AP set you still can download the firmware from SE official website by downloading their update software and install in your computer. It's working fine I try with my old phone W810 before which turn to be an AP set last time.

I think in Singapore, C702 drop til like $400++ or less. This model is quite cheap and nice. Peng Leng Zheng XD

Finally after some research and troubleshoot on my C702, I know how to open the back battery cover already! OMG... for goodness sake, I been thinking how the counter girl help me to put my sim card when the moment I bought this C702 new phone(cause I didn't notice how she open during that time). Stress out a lot of brain juice, search from Internet but can't get the answer also. Now, finally I know how to open the back battery cover of C702 already! Yeah, you guys didn't face this problem?

In order to open your C702 battery cover, you need to turn the screw line from vertical 12 o'clock direction to anticlock direction (9 o'clock). You can see the unlock icon on the right hand side of the screw. After that you need to hold your hold and use your finger to pull the cover from the down side where you plug in your charger cable or data cable there. Craw it and pull up then you should be able to open your battery cover.

You know why I can't open it firstly, because I thought it's the same way to open it like what I did for my W810 (old phone) by press and pull down the cover. But I was wrong.... I try to pull it down with my full strengh and end up the same(can't open). Luckily didn't break the screen and almost want to use screw driver to wack it already. Can't find the way to guide you on how to open the cover also in the user guide menu...haiz.. they should improve and add this guide in their guidebook in the future. I think I should suggest them and send my opinion to them. Maybe they will give me a free latest Sony Ericsson hand phone as a small token to repay me ? XD

Please different people got different view and taste. You don't like it or you find it's ugly doesn't mean that all the other 99.9% of people same opinion like you.

I quite like the keypad design it just that it's quite hard to press sometime due to its size.
