Bia Gae (Cowrie/Cowry/Seashell, commonly filled with mercury and takrut) is a special kind of amulet which is widely use to avoid and protect from Black Magic, Evil Forces, Ghosts and Spirits.

Cowrie or Cowry shell is a very beautiful shiny tropical sea shell, it is humped back sometimes decorated with spots like a leopard skin. The arched back of cowrie is like a shield and therefore it is believe that it could bounce off evil energy, similar to tortoise shell was employed by Feng Shui master in China for warding off bad energy. Biography of Luang Pu Boon

Luang Pu Boon, Wat Klang Bang Kaew was a very special monk who had attained very high level of Buddhist practice. The amulets he created during the earlier period of his life when he was the abbot of Wat Klang Bang Kaew till his decease were very much in high demand by collectors and devotees whom believed in the power of Luang Pu Boon’s amulets which pocesses Metta Mahaniyom (charm or attractiveness) especially the Phong Ya Jintamanee, a special concocted mixture of herbs made by Luang Pu Boon which contained the element of healing power.

Luang Pu Boon was born on 3rd July B.E. 2391 in Thamai district of Samutsakorn province. He ordained at Wat Klang Bang Kaew on the 21st June B.E. 2412 after being a novice in the temple since he was 15 years old. Phra Palad Pahn of Wat Tukeda was his preceptor. Phra Palad Thong Wat Klang Bang Kaew, Phra Atikan Sap Wat Newrai, Phrakru Bureemanurak Wat Supraditaram and Phra Atikan Jan Wat Thamohn whom were all well-known figures in the monkshood were present Dharma instructors and witnesses to the event. His Buddhist name was Khantachot.

Later in the year B.E. 2459, Luang Pu Boon was appointed as a preceptor and in the year B.E. 2473, he was promoted to the rank of Phra Buddhawitheenayok. Luang Pu Boon learned the making of “Bia Gae” amulet from Luang Pu Rod Wat Nairong. This amulet was made of specially selected seashell inserted mercury for protection against black magic, evil spirit and bodily harm.

Luang Pu Boon started creating amulets when he was the abbot of Wat Klang Bang Kaew at around B.E. 2429. Although he have created many types of amulets ranging from Phra Chai, Phra Ner Din, Phra Ner Phong, Phra Ner Ya, Takrut, Bia Gae etc. The most popular among all was his Phra Chao Sua which literally means “Buddha on a Mountain”. It was very highly sought after by the people especially the Chinese whom had considered Phra Chao Sua as an auspicious mean in Chinese description.

Luang Pu Boon had counted Phra Sangaraj Pae Wat Suthat and Phra Acharn Pah Wat Rakang kositaram as his closest pals. They were often seen sitting next to each other whenever they were invited to various Buddhist ceremonies.

Luang Pu Boon passed away on the 8th April B.E. 2478 at the age of 86.

Phra Pidta Jumbo Sorng was created by Luang Pu Toh of Wat Pradoochimpee (Bangkok) and it was blessed from B.E. 2521 to B.E. 2523. It is one of the Phra Pidta which was created in the Roon SamTaiMak batch.

As seen from the photo, we can tell that it is one of the most beautiful piece and definitely not easy to see a piece with such thumbs up condition.

Phra Pidta Jumbo 2 is one of the most collectable amulet that Luang Pu Toh had made in B.E. 2521-2523/ A.D. 1978-1980. This Batch of Pidta was divided in to
Three Types of material:

(1) Nur Bailan - Bailan in Thai Word means Sutra (Phrase Of Buddha Teaches That Written On Leaf). This black colour Pidta was made by Old Sutra Books.The Thais believe that amulets that made by Bailan (Sutra Leaf) had powerful protection in it.

(2) Nur Kesong - Kesong in Thai word means Jasmine Powder.This Yellow Colour Pitda was made by Jasmine Powder and the Thais believe
