QUOTE(red-queen @ Dec 8 2009, 02:43 PM) after going through the 1st few pages of this thread....i hereby declare that i shall flash my dd-wrt to tomato victek when i get home from work later. just use and set the ip/mac bw limiter. easy. i dont use the QoS function.dd-wrt v23sp2 has served me well, but i really need my QoS to work now as i have 6 family members at home using the internet connection and im in dire need of a way to restrict certain traffic so that everyone can enjoy the internet. Added on December 9, 2009, 11:53 amHi all, i've finally moved to Victek's Tomato. first of all, i'd like to say a great big thank you to Victek. your tomato mod is awesome!!! my router is much more responsive now. with over 50% RAM left and CPU at decent levels. compared to when i was running dd-wrt v23 sp2 (10% RAM left, sometimes less and CPU around 40%) anyways, i've configured most of the stuffs, the QoS most importantly and it's running pretty good. i'm planning to try out the "IP/MAC BW Limiter" function and was hoping someone or maybe Victek himself can help point me to the right direction. so here goes: my DL speed is around 1500kbps and upload is around 384kbps. i have 6 active users at home, and i was thinking to set DL rate and UL rate for each user to around 150/40 so that each user will get this guaranteed bandwidth. and for the ceiling rate, i can set it to max so that they can utilise more if there is spare. is this setting logical/feasible? will this also work hand-in-hand with the QoS settings? so that if user1 is bt-ing, and no one else is using the bw, he will be able to use the ceiling rate configured in "BW Limiter". but as soon as user2 is having a VoIP session, QoS will come into place and knock user1's bt down, but user1 will still be able to maintain at least a minimum of 150kbps for his bt as set at "BW Limiter". |
