lite one aa? basic spec only. if wanna mod kaw kaw take lite. hehe.

hv u try paultan? i think paultan did xplain. smile.gif

uh, bro navi, i tried edy. no diff ler. no jerk. erm. maybe i will try again later on. sweat.gif r u sure u r not overly sensitive with ur car? ur jerk like riding a horse?
*
I'm sure i'm not over sensitive as I've asked several ppl to test it out for me.

erm... the jerk will be very noticeable on bumper to bumper jam...not highway cruising.

Both proton & renautech aware of this problem and called it AMT jerk. So i'm pretty sure I'm not alone.

Cars bound to have problems later with tens of thousands components it's just how well the car could tolerate the faults...DIY means the faults are easy to rectify...there seems to be 2 major probs with AMT model - accumulator - RM1k to replace and robotic clutch RM2k - both NEW, still much cheaper than the whole transmission set - if you need to replace on "exotic" transmission like the CVT for example.. MT model is generally reliable lime mine including the manual gearbox found on AMT>>

You can count me like other enthusiastic owners who will keep the car for long time...love my baby very much - now nearly 80k km, 2005 car MT>
There's no thread about kelisa and kenari if you notive..and the kancil thread only begins to picking up...

still experiementing with RON92 petrol - BHP and ESSO 92 working fine on our cars...
*
RON92 should be fine on Savvy.... But not on major proton cars such as those equipped with Mitsubishi & campro series of engines

Are you actually using RON92 on your Savvy AMT? I am not that brave, at least not until many owners can vouch for it.
I hope there are no long term side effects other than the anticipated minor drop in performance.
*
I din use it as my company only pay for RON97 & diesels.

But there's some ppl i know feed their savvy with RON92 and no significant performance drop nor operational problems.

most new cars already have a 'ping sensor' in the engine. meaning if the fuel is of sub standard, then it will retard the timing to suit it.
for example, most fuel in indonesia are of ron 88. ron 92 and 95 are the high end fuel.

---
davidmu:
on warranty of HU.. it is possible not to cut any wires. according to accessory shops, they can use the clip method to connect the wires.
but keep in mind, if u short some wires and fries something. dun expect proton to honour warranty on that.

edwin88:
stop surfing on the web for info on savvy. go out and test drive one then surf for info.

hyper:
i fully agree. my family's honda is going to die soon because of CVT issue, honda can't do anything to help. most likely will need to change a recond gearbox soon.
*
for the timing retarding, it'll also have a minimum threshold as a limit. so some engine especially with high compression have to use at least Ron95 premium fuel....

True, but the robotic clutch system is many times more expensive to replace than
the actual clutch kit in the manual gearbox in the event of component failure.
This is what every Savvy AMT owner is dreading whenever the AUTO light comes on.
Proton's inability to resolve this problem is not helping to allay this fear, especially
for those out-of-warranty vehicles.

Added on October 2, 2008, 1:44 pmThere is one lady owner from Singapore who posted on savoc.net yesterday regarding the AMT failure
of her two-month old Savvy!

After ignition, she cannot put the car into drive from the 'N' position. Even with the help of some
experienced forummers, she still couldn't manage to engage into drive. I really sympathise with
her since she cannot use her car and has to wait to be towed back to the service centre after the
Raya holidays.

My Savvy AMT is also around two-month+ old and I am feeling really apprehensive about this AMT
problem. So unpredictable. It can happen without warning on both new and out-of-warranty vehicles.
*
most of the auto light warning cases are due to wiring faults & not component failure.... FYI Renault is known to have higher electronic failure compared to other brands. Proton did their best to improve the situation and of course....accident still happened. My car is retained at 1st service for 2 week because they detected an impending failure in the AMT system and changed my wirings.

However, while it's not a very serious problem, my car still suffer from AMT jerk & it's almost certain to be caused by the brake switch & "seasonal" AMT light warning & the error shown is something like "wiring earthed/disconnected".... whistling.gif

QUOTE(raynman @ Oct 2 2008, 11:15 PM)
We need to define what exactly is a "wiring fault". Wires wrongly connected not according to Renault factory wiring diagram? Loose connectors? Corroded connections? Shorting?
If these are facts, then why do they happen? And in so many AMT vehicles? Shouldn't Proton be doing a recall for this wiring problem similar to the rear wheel bearing problem?
Is there any assurance from Proton that after changing the wiring, it won't happen again?

There are just too many questions without good answers from Proton that will allay our nagging fear of impending AMT failure. And I have not even experienced the AUTO light on yet.  hmm.gif
*
Wiring fault is a general terms. You need to look at the nature of the fault to derive them in details and most of the cases are unique to the car and not to others. They might have a combination of what you mentioned.

What assurance do you want...? even VW DSG gearbox will have firmware problem that yet to be solve, dude. doh.gif

According to one of the technical person in Proton on the Proton Open day, he mentioned that the occurrences of AMT failure is not high enough to trigger alarm. They even confidently said that the savvy's electronic fault is less compared to Renault itself..... sweat.gif

Talking about recall, they also mentioned that most of the recall is due to a design flaw and they might put the driver to great danger while AMT & other similar common problem does not pose a immanent danger when the fault occurred.

Auto light on is not dreaded to most of us as the auto warning light is just a warning and the car mostly still can be driven without any problem like how most of the ppl treat the engine check light(of course...I treat them seriously...My last gearbox light on is due to a weird reason..."TDC sensor voltage too high" for a few second... sweat.gif ). An alarming situation should be engine STOP light, engine warning light, electrical fault & AMT light lit altogether.... then you can feel the fear (and I never heard of it yet, but it's documented in the manual that in this situation, engine won't rev beyond 2000RPM). doh.gif

Hi Navigator,

If most of the cases of AMT failure are unique, then you cannot classify them generically as "wiring fault". It is very misleading because you actually cannot define the problem.

The assurance I want from Proton is that if indeed it is a wiring fault and they changed the wiring harness, I definitely want the assurance the same problem do not arise again.
If the problem do arise again after changing the wiring, their "solution" is by trial-and-error and they will start looking for another "scapegoat".

Please don't confuse a wiring fault, which is not a design problem, with the ever evolving firmware upgrades for transmission management. They are not the same, and to
demand an assurance from the automaker for proper working of a firmware is moot, since it is always upgradeable. For example, I have stopped asking Euromobil for TCU
firmware upgrades of the Tiptronic gearbox of my Audi A4 Turbo bacause it is already working fine for me. Why should I upgrade for the sake of upgrading and risk something
going out of my expectations? I am 2 versions behind now, but I am OK with it.

We are just not on the same plane of perception as far as the AUTO on light is concerned. Most, I won't say all, of savoc.net forummers who experienced AMT failure had
early warning in the manifestation of this AUTO light being on, sometimes momentarily and sometimes on permanently.
*
Hi raynman,

I do not know if they're misleading as far as my concern, wiring fault is also categorized under electronic fault. Sorry if i mentioned as wiring fault on my previous post.

I tot proton provided a 5yrs warranty...what else do you need? how about a lifetime warranty from proton for the electronics? We may start a petition although most likely they will be ignored... such as petition signed to some other car manufacturer.... doh.gif

About the AMT light warning, I do have a different perception on it as most of the time when I got this error and drive to the SC, they always tell me that it's either there's a short circuit or engine sensor problem. They're erased and same error did not occur again.

Except there's a case that my brake switch faulty and after some revisit they finally found the problem where the brake pedal is actually causing the fault. In this case AMT light blink once only every few weeks.

I also had a case where temp sensor faulty & falsely showing the engine temp is overheating. In this case, no error was shown.

But for both cases, they still running perfectly for weeks even with such problems.

That's why for me, AMT warning light is nothing to be dreaded about. of course I cannot convince you that my POV is correct.

For the same reason, isn't that you also shouldn't keep on giving an impression that Savvy is having a major design flaw? doh.gif

i think, saga maintaining cheaper woo. especially compare to savvy amt. tongue.gif in term of future breakdown. LOL.

owh, remember take a lot of pics for 1st TT aaa! thumbup.gif
*
The campro's maintainance also not that cheap o~! doh.gif

The Saga's advantage is using a cheaper part price, cheaper gearoil and less engine oil compared to Savvy....

But if Saga breakdown....hoho...FYI 4 pencil coil for Campro IAFM cost more than RM1K...Just for an example.... doh.gif

If I were given a choice, I'll go for Saga as it's using campro engine. I'm very satisfied with my Gen.2's engine performance & silence so far. thumbup.gif

Hi Navigator,

Did I give you the impression that the AMT failures experienced by a high percentage of Savvy AMT owners are due to design flaw?  smile.gif

My suggestion for a recall is not in response to a design flaw in the AMT system, but more to the fact that, how should I say,
some "low quality" components could have been used during the localization process that cannot withstand the passage of time.
Probably due to the heat and humidity in our environment.

The only design flaw that Proton can be accused of would be the mass failures of their Campro engine.  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
You really gave me such impression until your reply above. thanks for clearing that out.

But I also quite disagree for low quality as Proton Savvy are undergone a TUV certification process and AFAIK that covers part supplier/vendor....

May I know where can I get the source for things like warranty claim or major repair statistics for Proton Savvy?

I would also like to know the design flaw for the Campro engine as I'm also a Gen.2 owner for now and frankly speaks, it never gave me any fault, FC nor performance issue so far except there's a time that the Lambda sensor contaminated. Thanks.

well.. i did try to recreate the scene where the auto light flash once. but not happen again. he..

anyway after that when stop at traffic light, i did like what ur did. neutral and handbrake only. should i tell sc bout my auto light? since the car didn't have any problem i afraid problem occur when they try to search for problem. u know la.. proton sc..

QUOTE(death_nite @ Oct 9 2008, 07:34 PM)
though ur gear on N do tarik ur handbrake. when u r not moving, pressing brake may mean pressing ur clutch too; especially when ur car r not moving or moving in slow motion. braking in fast motion i dont think it will trigger ur clutch.

try playing around with ur brake.

press ur brake a little bit, good enough to trigger the clutch switch but not hard enough to brake the tyres then release a bit. u should be able to play around with the clutch. thumbup.gif do it while ur car r not moving/moving slow with gear 1/2. u should be able to feel it. brows.gif

my 2 cents is (though sm of u might denied this, but to be safe),
put ur gear to N, dont press brake and use ur handbrake when stop at traffic lights.

i did it now and for the time being, no auto light. smile.gif

amt got so many characteristics. u need to learn it. hehe.
*
I'm suspecting the brake switch related problem as this happened to my car as well. If this is true the car might also experience sporadic jerk at 20km/h on 2nd gear.......

The solution for my car is to change the brake pedal.... No problem for now. thumbup.gif

For proton cars, whenever the warning light is on or lit, the problem should properly registered to the ECU and can be retrieved by using Proton Diagnostic Tools. smile.gif

Try also not to depress the brake when you turn the key to ON position (No problem when you start the engine).

Campro problem

there was a thread on Gen2 campro S4PH breaking down.

so far our Savvy D4f still going strong
FYI, only the 1st batch Savvy gone through TUV certification.
*
....This is not even a design flaw for me as if it is it'll certainly hit major of Campro owners....this is more like a manufacturing problem on batches...Like Proton Wira's bonnet problem....

If to mention as a defect than something like this should happened:-

http://www.petitiononline.com/TMC2003/petition.html

AFAIK TUV certification did not work this way.....

My company's TUV certification is valid until major component vendor are changed....

I dunno IF proton did that for the beloved Savvy.....

thanks for sharing the story BTW. Learned a new campro issue. doh.gif

I am not sure why but you always seem to misunderstand me. Maybe my English is not up to standards.

What I meant was Proton cannot be held accountable for "design flaw" for something they did not design.
They did not design the AMT system, so they cannot be faulted for "design flaw" in the AMT system.
Proton designed the Campro engine, so they can be held accountable for any engine-related problem
that affects a large number of users. I am using the Campro engine as a candidate for a "design flaw"
possibility because that is the only vital automotive component that is designed by Proton.  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
...or maybe I have problem to understand english.... perhaps? doh.gif

Proton should be accountable for the design flaw once they use the component in their product. This is very clear of that and also mentioned by proton R&D techies....

After read the broken campro story, I also wondered if I'm the nex victim as my car are now 90k km & I'm also a very spirited driver....before the petrol rise to RM2.70..... doh.gif

Well....Just went through the google & found that broken crankshaft happens on other cars as well...

most likely when u inform sc, they will only resetting ur ecu/tcu. but for me just inform them for a record. who knows in future, if anything happened especially after warranty, those record can b some kind of proof that the probs occur b4 warranty expired.
i heard only 1st batch of savvy got tuv certified.

in savoc, those with tuv certified got tuv logo stick on their car. mine doesnt hv any. sad.gif
d4f rocks erh. thumbup.gif hehe.

Even if the hv record, they won't claim for you once warranty over...u know la...standard practice to make money. shakehead.gif

。。。。。。if that's the case, I would really like to know what kind of TUV certification they're using doh.gif

our company's case is that we're allowed to have revision upgrade but source of part must be certified.....but IMO TUV means nothing actually, TUV certified thing still prone to be defective... whistling.gif

ah, all proton engine rocks. icon_idea.gif sweat.gif

forgotten?

i believe other cars manufacturer will throw away wet clutch aka normal auto and use amt/dual clutch in the future instead. blush.gif

bro navi, forgot to ask, what do u mean change brake pedal?
*
they're not wet clutch....they're torque converters & do not called a clutch as there's no physical contact involved when transferring power to gearbox.

I think torque converter will still be around for normal sedan as they do have their specific advantage over clutch system.

But of course, performance model will eventually mode to Dual sequential gearbox.... so called DSG like what used in Nissan GT-R R35 & golf....which some of them require frequent firmware upgrade. hmm.gif

I changed my brake pedal assembly to solve my brake switch problem which caused AMT jerk as mentioned on my car.... doh.gif The jerk is still there IF I turn the key to ON while fully depressing the brake..... sweat.gif

if its hi-line, then get the genetic silver, coz its silver cars supposed to have higher resale value..

changing the oil doesn't help in my situation for jerking or gear change noise. especially the intermittent jerk on 2nd gear@20km/h.

The oil is ELF renauMATIc D3 syn and can be brought from plotong for RM125 or outside sparepart shop for RM75......

It won't void your warranty as it is stated in the manual to use it or equivalent (which is plotong D3 ATF lo....)

The only real obvious benefit is the elf oil is a lifetime oil while other equivalent (plotong D3 ATF lo...) need to be changed at 30000km interval....
