Hi guys (for those of you on oceanic servers),

Just wondering how is your server in terms of

1. How long has your server been around? PreTBC, postTBC?

2. Hows the horde to ally ratio?

3. Hows the server economy?

4. Hows the population of the server in general? Yes you will have QQ buggers, but in general...

During peak times --> 6PM - 12PM Msian time...

5. How is the Queue?

6. How is the latency? Is is bad?

7. Hows the stability of the server? Does it always consistently lag even in IF? Frequent restarts etc?

Some of those Qs I can prolly pull it off some of those data sites, but I wanted to get a feel from the grassroots (erm, sorry the residents themselves). Appreciate if you can take some time off to reply my questions because I'm doing a brief survey on the different Oceanic realms.

Thank you very muchie in advance for answering! tongue.gif

non-oceanic, but will still post anyways in high hopes of more oceanic playerbase flocking over.

Stormscale US PVP

1) Account Created: March 2, 2005 12:18 PM PST (oh my, i just realized i had WoW as my bday present? LOL!)
2) no idea, dont bother bout it anyways since XBG, and not like people can fare well in outdoor pvp gankings against a rogue
3) pretty gay to pay 10-15g for planar essence, 24g for prismatic shards, 70g for living rubies, 300g still for epic gems even when alchemy lab has been released some time (irony? crimson ruby is actually amongst the cheapest gem cuz idiots kept selling them over other gems)
4) peak times for msian timezone = ghost town. almost everywhere you get 200 ms or even under 200 ms because player pop is too low. worse during tuesday (if no maintainence) wednesday thursday friday
5) server queue 0, BG queue fairly fast, arena queues on 2v2/3v3 also fast, 5v5, it can be as fast as instant to 2hours+ and give up from 0 queues.
6) stormscale had been a good server based on a track record (ive been playing since the beginning afterall) especially when compared to the higher pop servers, and more so to the oceanic servers during msian timezone peak hours.
7) refer 6.

so there you go, need moar fresh meat to flock to SS prz!

I used to be in Thaurissan server, currently stop a while, plan to return soon. most my answer are outdated, but hopes that somehow help.
for most realms information, please visit http://www.warcraftrealms.com

1. Thaurissan start on 2006-11-18(according to warcraftrealms)

2. Thaurissan has the widest active ratio gap between horde and the alliance
highest active ratio record is A1:H18.8

current active ratio record A1:H7.3
in short MANY hordies.

3. unknown. but alliance side have a shortage of auction item so much, that some hordies decide to help gather some item and auction at neutral AH at a lower price for the alliance,
with some coordination, hordies auction the item instantly buy by the alliance and re-auction at alliance side(this to prevent other hordies took avantage of the low price.

4. at peak hours malaysia hour 6pm~12midnight, is always high according to blizz.
for some reason there always a gold farming ad spammer the orgrimmar bank. can't get rid of em'
only met 1 NE hunter botter during my 3months playtime, reported of course.

5. not a clue.

6. i though latency have nothing to do with blizz, in my case is 500~650(my best line)

7. ok i guess.

well you forget about Nagrand.

Prolly i wont go into depths but anyhow, we dont get queues at all, alliance weigh heavier than hordes but since the free transfer to thaurissan, i guess our numbers dropped drastically.

Caelestrasz
1. Server came up around 11-2007.
2. WoWJutsu says 1:1
3. Server economy is a bit weird due to certain monopoly. Didn't see anybody monopoly leather market yet.
4. About 4,000 people.
5. No queue for me.
6. My latency is 400ms in town and 200-300 outside town.
7. Server is stable in my opinion. Frequent restarts? Never happened unless the scheduled ones.

server was up on the 26/1/2006
has 24,857 characters
total allies:9109
total horde:15764
the ratio is 1:1.7

we have random lags at times and we also have suddent and mass dc's during raids at odd hours of the raids, this server has many malaysian players, we have decent pvpers altough most of our pvp guilds have moved to the new server but i think it's a good server to be in if you dont mind some drama

Added on June 23, 2008, 11:37 amoh btw if you are going to level a new character you will get about 340-390 ms lat biggrin.gif thats what im getting now at tarren mill and i know im gonna git raped by ganking party....

Blizzard always seem to be having some attribution of people the longer the expansion last and depending on the patch (last major content, quality of raid contect, yadda yadda yadda).

I'm guessing that there's a bit of backlast with patch 2.4 with sunwell but of a smaller scale when TBC came out. Raiders burning out because of the difficulty of the raid, the repetition of the raid style and the duration of raiding farm content. Although it is harder to look for good raiders in 2.4 because a lot of people have burnt out from longterm raiding or stress from gearing up fast when they join a raiding guild.

well quaza most of our hardcore pvpers have left the server due to shitty lag and bad server and we have a "gangster" guild wich disband recently this was a guild that wanted to report so many legit high rating s3 players for win trading so it would be ezmode for them.

There was a problem in the past where Blizz had some problems with the servers. Should have been rectified during the last 2 downtime.

Seems better atm.

Oceanic servers were old servers when it was first set-up. But think Blizz upgraded it somewhere along the line...

The general consensus is that :
-Oceanic players aren't that good compared to US servers
-Smaller player base compared to US servers
-Oz and NZ players are picky amongst one another. They view each other as mostly childish, immature and picky. These are the adult players, not the kids
-More Asians. They treat each other like the Oz and NZ players do. Haha!
-Economy is different server to server. The lower populated ones have lower one
-Most players transfer back to Aman'thul (PVE) or Jubei'thos (PVP - is this still the default server?), the default servers becoz of lack of good players and poor economy and poor opportunity for raiding

Have to be careful when ppl are asking about latency.

Azeroth latency is the lowest
Outlands latency
Kara/Gruul/Mag/ZA latency
SSC latency
TK latency (maybe this one should be FPS issues)
Hyjal / BT latency
Sunwell latency

All different one... even with same bandwidth. So which one?

I dont think that latency issue. Thats more like FPS issue.
I thought all instances r usually in the same server system? (Just assuming, coz i remember theres one day where all raid instances kara,za, 25man all down in my server)
If its the same server, i dont think it will contribute to any difference in latency for different instance.

Im playing in US Zuljin Server and my latency is around 270 (best)- 440. Usually its around 330.
But i have frequent DC after 6pm-12am.

same instance or not, if ur with 25 man, you will be having data transfer for the movements/action of those 25 man, their buffs etc as opposed to standing alone in durotar.

I am not sure about raiding in a pvp server as opposed to pve servers. What i know recently, as most of the top guilds in Nagrand has transferred to Thaurissan which is a PVP server, they do find difficulty in putting raids together especially those who are in Sunwell, where heavy popuplation of the hordes are doing their dailies in that isle. So there's couple of guilds decided to transfer back into PVE.

At this moment, i can see alot of guilds in Nagrand coming up with t5 content attempts and i see a potential. But for t6 raiders, its pretty hard to find a guild unless you are willing to start from t4/t5 raiding.
