Issues occur with many routers, including routers running DD-WRT, when using the router with heavy P2P applications. The router becomes 'slow' over time, and restarting helps for a short time. Some symptoms can be:

* Slow web-interface, or cannot connect at all to web interface
* Slowing transfer of data, e.g. browsing, after a reboot
* Not responding to ping
* Router Crash or even rebooting

Usually the culprits are heavy P2P software like Emule, Bittorrent, uTorrent, Azureus, Shareaza or something similar. These programs, by default, can require a lot of connections which could cause the routers' ip_conntrack table to get full.

* Especially BitTorrent's DHT feature sends thousands of UDP packets that quickly overflow this table.

Routers affected with this issue are the most common types of routers running DD-WRT.

Guys, i just bought a linksys wrt54g version 7 with atheros chipset instead of broadcom. Anything that i can do ? J

One more question ,does linksys provide 3 years warranty for this product ?
*
They will change u to the same model unless they don't have WRT54G with the same version you might get a different version.

FYI V7 is the worst version of Linksys WRT54G router

Hey all sifu,

I have just flashed V24 sp1 std (using wrt54gs v4). Evrything go fines, except for when i go into [STATUS - BANDWITH], the page will ask me to open or save a file with the file name of [graph_if.svg] for 3 times. afterthis, the page doesn't show anything. Please advise me.

Another thing, how to setup a hotspot with using this router? Is there any page tutorial regarding to setting up a hotspot?

Million thanksĀ  biggrin.gif

Use firefox to view the page should be okay or new browser Chrome . You can view the hotspot setup using the dd-wrt forum.

Nope, i just want the only website i have set using proxy only.

and may i know how to flash the buffalo whr-hp-g54 to dd-wrt in Vista. I have open the TFTP. But when i try to insert this command on run tftp -i 192.168.11.1 PUT ddwrt.bin. It has done nothing. Nothing come out on the screen
*
You should execute the the tftp -t 192.168.11.1 in the same directory of ur firmware and when the router is power up asap hit this command

QUOTE(bazet @ Nov 12 2008, 12:42 PM)
anyone tried the repeater function of v24sp2 ?

which one better ?

wds vs repeater  ?

WDS
========
halved the bandwidth each hop
mac address authentication

Repeater
========
repeat the host by SSID, if somebody simply use the same ssid, thier signal also get aplified
halved the bandwidth
much easier to deploy, just repeat any open signal
*
Good question Bazet

I personally prefer WDS mode :-)

HI, i have a buffalo WHR-G125, flashed using ddwrtv24sp1

Problem details
First occurence of problem: 24/11/08
Problem description:
All my router's back light lighted up... it happends just around 2 months after i flash my router to ddwrt...

see pic:
user posted image

And even i connect LAN cable to the port, and to my PC, window will just treat it as unplugged... shakehead.gif .

I also tried to hold reset button for near a minute... unplug... hold reset... plug in... still the same, not working....

Usually the DIAG light will blink during boot up... but now it won't

I don't think it's the firmware's fault... but anyway... any body here can help?  icon_question.gif

Direct tftp to the router? when powered up?

let me rephrase my sentence. when my computer connected to 1st router(bridge mode, not auto connect to streamyx), i can dial connection to streamyx from my computer, but when my computer connected to 2nd router(set to repeater bridge mode), i cant dial to streamyx from my computer. it seems like cant open the wat WAN port thingy. is it really cant dial from my computer through 2nd router?
*
Let me rephrase you again :-)

Use WDS function

1st Router ppoe ( Connected to the Internet Auto Dialer )

WDS Settings Mac Address 2nd router and in the second router put Mac address wireless for the first one

If you cannot follow this guide. God will help you .

1 of my customer experiencing blinking problems power blinking and all lan power up . First case happening since using dd-wrt. Manage to swap one to one, flash again and works charmly until now

another one

Power blinking, but still can access internet, both in the past 4 weeks, still rectifying the problems with the customer, if problem persist will RMA, because item still in warranty period.

Suspecting firmware debricking or overboost transmit power advice turning off the router let it ress maybe same case like Buffalo

MX510 , guess you're a DD-WRT addict now eh ?. Things have changed. I remember our last conversation 2-3 years back when you were afraid to flash your WRT54GS !
*
Hehehe indeed i am :-) all my hotspot project are using DD-WRT based firmware, for high end project we use Senao hopefully future firmware support Atheros Chipset :-). Anyway thank you to you for introducing me this firmware 3 years ago :-). Anyway special version v24 sp1 is the best now.
