All sifu here, i wanna ask if i flash my WRT54G2 to this DD-WRT firmware, it is i can set the setting like u guys use although u guys dint use the same modem like me, right??? Can i set my modem(Linksys AM300) as Bridge mode only, then set my broadband router(If successful flash to DD WRT) as PPPOE???

Even though i don't quite understand the "settings" as u mentioned. but i do get the last point u were saying...

Yes.. set your modem to bridge mode 1st
then connect the rj45 cable from the modem to WAN port of u'r WRT54G2 router
then connect u'r pc/laptop to the WRT54G2 router access through web 192.168.1.1
change setup to PPPoE & configure it
done!

for WRT54G2 pls check the supported device list of dd-wrt FW

Flashed my latest router WRT-310N to DD-WRT v24 SP1 std-special. So far it is running fine! and i do realize this wireless router performance is speedier compare to my previous WRT54G V3.1!

does the routers need frequently to reboot itself (Keep Alive - Schedule Reboot) to clear its resources after some operations time?

It shouldn't. Mine is running OpenWRT and I've never rebooted it in about 2 years. Only times it's rebooted are two or three power outages. Still runs as fast as when it was first turned on.

Oh just get it from a lowyat forumer, he sell me for Rm110, i thought it was a bargain. It is a open box unit. Can consider new. Cause just open and test only.
But anyway i'm getting this for my gf. But i just found out this thread ! But nvm .... if cannot then have 2 stick with this version 7.
My gf only know how to msn and friendster only. The rest i think she wont touch. So i think this is more then enuf since she just want 2 use the wireless in her house.
Another question is linksys provide 3 years manufacture warranty for this ? So if my router strike by lightning the guy from linksys will give me back same version 7 or the newer version ? Just want 2 ask ... guys please help 2 share ur xp here ! Thanks !
If give new version then i put the router to my roof now.. hahaha cause now always raining and thunder striking ! just kidding !

They will change u to the same model unless they don't have WRT54G with the same version you might get a different version.

FYI V7 is the worst version of Linksys WRT54G router

Worst because of the Atheros chipset and cant support third party firmware ?
If normal internet surfing ok or not. My gf only use in her room.
Any "ahem" skills you guys know 2 claim the warranty ? Last time i flash my linksys wag200 firmware but suddenly no power supply. Then i send the router back for repair. Is beyond repair. Those guys just give me a new set after 3 weeks.
Possible 2 "ahem" the router ? 3 years warranty right ?

hi I'm new planning to buy a brand new router, there's few questions I want to ask all sifu regarding the linksys router.

1) Can I check the modem status( SNR Margin ) through WRT54G/L/S router?
or
I can directly check through by using DD WRT 3rd party firmware
or
I still need to do the manual way which is connect my modem directly to my pc?

Aztech 600E --> Linksys router

2) Can Buffalo WBMR G54 modem router flash with DD WRT? Is it better compare to seperate modem and router?

Anyone can enlighten me ?

thanks alot !

Even though..we can set the auto reboot (cronjob)

Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp1 (07/26/08) std-special
Time: 19:22:44 up 5 days, 12:32, load average: 0.16, 0.19, 0.09

Hey all sifu,

I have just flashed V24 sp1 std (using wrt54gs v4). Evrything go fines, except for when i go into [STATUS - BANDWITH], the page will ask me to open or save a file with the file name of [graph_if.svg] for 3 times. afterthis, the page doesn't show anything. Please advise me.

Another thing, how to setup a hotspot with using this router? Is there any page tutorial regarding to setting up a hotspot?

Million thanks biggrin.gif
