Hi Super Senior Sam,

Can you give some good career advices to Biotech graduates?

Frequently Asked Questions:

(1) What jobs would suit me?
(2) Can I work abroad for in-demand Biotech jobs?
(3) How about self-employment?

*
Hi critical,

1) What kind of job u like to do? A good advice based on my experience is never suit yourself to the job based on your education. Not when u still have the choice. This is many fresh grad mistake as they have no vision of what they want to be. Make the job suit u on what u want to do. If you are in biotech, then there many job u can do. No need to purposely look for job that write requirement Degree Biotech. Many jobs hire especially fresh grad based on general qualification like science/management/etc etc unless some specialized ones. Even biotech got some specialize jobs recently. Check jobstreet. They are usually research based.

2) Work abroad definitely can. My classmates many go over to Singapore work in their biotech industry. I have went over to Japan as a Master researcher and some of my fren who also go Japan continue as post doctorate and others there in their research field.

3) Self employment I don't recommend for biotech. Unless u have millions to spend, to set up a biotech company u need a lot money and get grant from government or bank loan which up to millions cost the setup is expensive. In fact self employment u don't really need any degree at all! Self employment skill is not taught in academic. It is earn by real life experience.

I mean social media as USM students la not their private. I can see many colleges like TARC, INTI, HELP all active here to create a community.

They seem to be quite active on Facebook. Look it up. You might find some of your biotechnology juniors who need your help.

Thank you, Sempai.

I'm interested in Bio-inspired Subsumption Algorithm (BISA). icon_rolleyes.gif

Bio-inspired Subsumption Algorithm (BISA) is a term used to refer to a branch of computational intelligence concerned with finding the ‘‘viable’’ solution to a particular behavior-based problem, such that a given objective function subject to a set of constraints is optimized using a hierarchy of levels inspired by natural collective behavioral competence, where higher levels are able to subsume lower levels in order to create viable behavior. I think biotechnology is providing the building blocks for a sustainable future. bruce.gif
