This can be a good experience, doing it with a organization. Used to distribute food too to the homeless when I was abroad, but it was solo.
It was nice to lend them a hand and at the same time lending ears as they just want to be heard. It can be an eye opening experience, contrary to the common belief they are not lazy, they are just unfortunate.
