In Kota Kinabalu, as there are less people using motorcycles, the price tend to be higher, for Honda EX5 used will be RM2K+ onwards..

Just bring the offer letter to open a bank account at CIMB bank, can be done on the spot..

It depends on which residental college you are staying, in UMS there are 5 residental colleges - Kampung A, Kampung B, Kampung C, Kampung D, Kampung E..

While 2 more hostels are located outside UMS, one is in Kingfisher - about 5 minutes distance from UMS, another is Indah Permai - 25 minutes from UMS..

Just print out from the UMS website while waiting for the hardcopy offer letter to arrive.. At least you got proof to show them IN CASE the letter did not arrive on time..

Worst come to worst, the cheque can be banked in through the cheque deposit machine into your CIMB account..

You know lah, government department the work efficiency...

Suggestion is to print whatever offer letter and relevant documents you can find at the UMS website...


Oh ya and one more thing, please be careful with your IC or BIRTH CERT ...

Got once I found someone's original BIRTH CERT near the bus door during house moving time after orientation finished..

Cool down ya..

Last time I went to open a CIMB account, I need to deposit RM200. Please check with other CIMB branch, not logic if need to have RM2K then only can open Saving's Account..

If based on the info from PTPTN website, yes, you only apply for PTPTN after you are at UMS..

Have you got the offer letter?

Mind to post up the taklimat schedule up here? So that I can try my best to explain to all future UMS students..

To clarify, you need to have a SSPN account, CIMB account and also PTPTN pin number..

And also 4 SETEM HASIL, can be bought from POS OFFICE..

For PTPTN, the officer from PTPTN will be going to UMS to collect the form, I would suggest you do not do anything for the PTPTN, just make sure you got all the SSPN account, CIMB account and also PTPTN pin number ready, and do pay your YURAN as well..

Anybody got any further info for the MSM itinerary as per below in RED, mind to post up a scanned copy??

Be thankful for what you get, Kampung D is also good what, Kampung E is still a distance away from Kampung E, and its located at the furthest end from Dewan Canselori, so after your late nite ceramah during MSM, if you are fined by the Commite and forced to walk back to your hostel, those who stay in Kampung A will be the happiest, as their hostel is the nearest to Dewan Canselori, folloed by Kampung B/C/D/E, those who stayed at Kampung E will suffer the most, need to go uphill, downhill, climb staircase lagi, buleh gila bah..

For wifi hotspot, the UMS library have it, either in the library or outside the 24hour room (the room is open 24/7/365 - for studying/lepak-ing).

Some school like SKTM/SST/SSS/SPE also have it, not sure whether they have expanded the hotspot to include all schools or not..

Kampung B is just next to Kampung A, is leading from the same road up..

Hmm medic students should be placed in the same hostel.. And for your info previous medic students were and are very well taken care of by UMS, till they feel that they are the chosen ONES and a pampered lot, got a few cases where these students looked down on their lecturers and also scolded them.. Sigh, not a very good attitude from future docs though...

Just my 2 sens, don't feel offended ya.. As we do not dare to treat our lecturers like this bah..

Yes yes and sometimes the way they guide you will make you even more confused...

Oh ya some pics that I would like to share with freshies, taken from Chinese Cari UMS forum, click here..

Sure is random, depends on your luck, either you will be staying in Kampung, Kingfisher (KF) or Indah Permai (IP) though..

If you stay in Kampung, there will be more restrictions as you must be in the UNI before 11pm, or your name will be noted down, random spot checks, less variety of food, cafeteria not open during Raya, can't hold hands in UNI for couples (BUT those China students do it anyway, you can do it if you dare), must wear properly, no spagetti strap or super short skirts/shorts.

If you stay the hostel outside UMS, either KF/IP, you are quite free, can go for mamak stall to have a drink at night, etc etc.. Total freedom I would say..

BUT BOYS/GIRLS, please be careful, take good care of yourself, and also your belongings, as there are a few RAPES and ROBBING/BREAK IN cases happened before...Even in Kampung

Never really heard of ragging since my orientation time and the year when I was MSM committee member.. But in the early morning the committees will sound the alarm, bang the door to wake you up, 4.30am for senaman pagi.. Yeah!!!
Then after the taklimat at night they will ask you to walk back to your hostel, no bus la you guys behaviour not good la, then when you reached hostel it was about 1am+, need to bath and wash your batik clothes somemore, then can just manage to catch some sleep, as need to wake up in about 3 hours time..

cruel_boy Bro, I am not scaring people ya, is true these cases that I mentioned above do happen, my friends house was broke into the first night they moved to KF, 2 of my friends was robbed in IP, while my girlfriend's house was also not spared.. And further more, don't you remember the latest case about the junior who was abducted and kidnapped in KF while they are on the way home from church? And don't you remember few cases of rumours they saw police cars going into SKTM, and saw BODY being taken out from the BT? While some are given first class honours to close the case?

I am just telling them what I know, we do went through all of these..Scared the shit out of us that time..

You stay at IP bro? Haha last time we also stay at IP, food is much more cheaper if compared to KF, but the UMS buses are never on time...
